Whats the favorite work of art you own?, by Ottomatik on Jan 15, 2011 20:47:03 GMT 1, From SK's show in Germany. (sorry for the iPhone photo) I'll replace with a better photo later tonight.
With flash
She big! 36x48 inches. Was $$$ to frame her. I placed Her in a room that doesn't have much light because the image looks great lurking in the shadows.

Whats the favorite work of art you own?, by jakek on Jan 15, 2011 21:41:00 GMT 1, Great thread.
I also think it's really interesting to see what people consider to be their favourite pieces - i'm sure in many collections it's not the most valuable or collectable.
There are a couple of great dennings and herakuts in the thread and the Jago diptych is stunning.
This is my favourite piece - it was the first time i'd spent "crazy" money on a piece of art but it's given me pleasure pretty much every day since then.

If there was a circle jerk policy - then you'd certainly be the biggest cock. As you say, you're new. So perhaps you'd consider a touch of civility or perhaps find another forum where you might blend in more easily. IMO.

Whats the favorite work of art you own?, by jakek on Jan 15, 2011 22:22:57 GMT 1, Jakek, are you speaking of the framed piece or the Eames Chair?
both are pretty special to me.
the framed piece is "like a virgin" by herakut - it's simply stunning up close as all their work is.
the eames chair was bought by my grandparents in the 60s and been handed down to me so means alot sentimentally as well as being a design classic.

I am guessing the Herakut is a portrait of Hera? Beautiful piece. The Herakut sketch further up this therad is fabulous too.

Whats the favorite work of art you own?, by howlinhooker on Jan 16, 2011 0:29:30 GMT 1, Whilst this comment did make me chuckle a tad, think on the whole if you don't have anything positive to say, on a thread like this, then perhaps it might be best not to say anything. Mrs Lurker wants to know where Howlin' got his wallpaper from. ........WHY ?

Seriously amazing, a Kaws bus stop piece is on the top of my "when I have more money then I know what to do with" list. Or more importantly when I can hide the funds from my wife

I'm not sure who it's of but it's not hera. There are a few pages of the guys painting the piece in their book - and in there you can see the photo that Akut was copying...
The photos in the book just make the piece even more special to me as you can see the development of the canvas and the amount of effort, thought and skill that the artists have put in.
If you're a Herakut fan I can't recommend their book highly enough.
