How To Prevent Prints From Fading (?), by curiousgeorge on Mar 13, 2010 12:36:34 GMT 1, 99% protection
www.tru-vue.com/Tru-Vue/Products/conservation-clear/
Being really anal you could check out the specs of the glazing at home, laminated glass also offers 99% uv protection. Finally light bulbs will also emit uv rays in the damaging range (200-400 nanometer)
Different lighting systems have different amount of uv light coming through, will try and find some info on better systems to use.
I've been known to draw the curtains when popping out on a very bright day!

How To Prevent Prints From Fading (?), by deepdownboy on Mar 13, 2010 19:24:25 GMT 1, I've never had a problem as long as prints are not in direct sunlight, canvas's I find much more difficult though, my son left the blinds open and it faded an original on canvas, I was really gutted. I leave my blinds closed most of the times and when open never all the way. At the end of the day I always think about why I bought the artwork and that is to enjoy no point in having it if you are going to lock it away. Hope all goes well

How To Prevent Prints From Fading (?), by manty on Mar 13, 2010 22:09:50 GMT 1, As above, and also................
Might also be worth thinking about float mounting instead of using a mount, at least then if it does fade slightly, you'll not a have a brighter border where the mount covered the print, if and when the print is removed from the frame

(yes, foolish indeed). Just make sure you use a quality framer, express you want archival/museum quality framing and don't scrimp on materials. If the art was expensive, it's worth the extra hundred or so quid to protect it imo.

How To Prevent Prints From Fading (?), by spiiiiiike on Mar 15, 2010 22:23:35 GMT 1, Direct sunlight will pretty much bleach any ink or paint, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I've learnt the hard way. Keep the blinds closed or move the work!
