CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by morrissey1 on May 11, 2008 6:21:02 GMT 1, I received several emails from folks wondering how much the Art Cards chartiy benefit pieces are going to be sold.
Here are some detials. The loose deadline to have the all-original art work cards available for sall mid June this year.
Also, each package will receive 5 cards of original artwork completed by a list of amazing artists (not to count that many packs will also come with cards that offer to the winner a free print by one of the Participating Artists.
Some of the work I've seen so far is pretty amazing! You can check out the blog: www.coa-artcards.blogspot.com to check it all out (INCLUDING A LIST OF ARTISTS PARTICIPATING)
So, what I need from all of you are you thoughts on what might be fair price to charge for these cards.
Keep in mind-
Each pack contains 5 cards (and at random potential a free print)
Each hand-done original card is 5" x 3 1/4" in size on special art paper
AND OF COURSE THIS IS TO BENEFT THE HERBIE FUND (more info and links to the charity at the blog listed above)...
So what do you think is far?
-people have worked hard on them..-the quality of these pieces is amazing. -a children's charity is benefiting -and when else will you be able to buy 5 pieces of original art from some of the bigger names in the game?
So any and ALL comments, suggestions, information, would be terribly helpful:::::
you can either contact me (robert dubeau) at robertdubeau1975@hotmail.com
or the blog
WHAT IS A FAIR PRICE FOR THESE?
www.coa-artcards.blogspot.com
THANKS FOR ANY HELP~!!!!!!!

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by Heavyconsumer on May 11, 2008 6:56:43 GMT 1, Hi Rob, a few comments...
Firstly, you deserve a big "RESPECT" and pat on the back for the project. It's great to see yet another charity focussed project in conjunction with this forum's members and in this case artists also.
You have 26 artists named so far on the blog, does that mean that there will only be 26 packs to sell? Or if there will be more, any idea yet how many in total? You seem to have a decent idea of what you think is fair, as you have stated on your blog that half will cover costs while half will be donated to the Herbie Fund. Based on the fact that these are very small and there is a chance people could easily get packs they don't like, I think the cost has to be kept low in this case. But the upside is that there's no limit to how many you could potentially sell if you can get the artists busy! My opinion is ยฃ25 incl' postage would be about right, but maybe others are wealthier or more generous with their ideas. Also you mention on the blog, having to buy prints to give away. In keeping with the spirit of the project are there no artists who may perhaps donate something they haveknocking about or perhaps even spray a stencil onto A3 for you?
I feel you still have a payment obstacle to clear up though, based on your last update. You have to find something easier that Moneybookers imo. Did you consider the ideas I put to you in my PM a while back? I don't know if there was a possibility there as you didn't reply, but perhaps The Herbie Fund can help facilitate that aspect for you??? I'd guess they accept donations via CC..?
Good luck with all aspects of this, it's a nice, original idea and looks like a lot of fun too!

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by curiousgeorge on May 11, 2008 11:02:40 GMT 1, Just read the story of Herbie, it real begs our belief that he had to travel for health care (still that's a story for another thread)
www.herbiefund.com/aboutherbieday.asp
Not sure how you feel about the numbers of Artists currently involved, i would like to think with the help of the forum you could get the numbers of Artists involved upto 100 if not more.
I would be happy to help sending emails to Artists showing them the links you have provided, imo get the volume of Artists up and you can keep the prices lower. ยฃ25 inc postage sounds about right, with maybe a discount for 3 set, ie 3 sets for ยฃ60-65 (assuming you have enough volume to do this)
Would be very nice to see this turn into a multiple page thread with input from forum members and artists alike
Either way I'm in
Send EdgeArt a PM and see if they can do anything to help or offer any suggestions

I think you've miss read it mate. The artists (me included) are donating a piece of work to Robert for the fundraiser, we're not selling them.
I also think ยฃ25 (maybe even a touch more) is a good ball park figure for charging for the packs. Thats ยฃ25 for 5 pieces of original work which could include a piece by a big player, along with the chance to 'win' a another piece. If we could all use our contacts to get the number of artists up to 100, like Mr George suggests, then thats a whopping chunk of money raised.

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by s-editions on May 11, 2008 12:13:18 GMT 1, We and our artists are supporting this and donating prints as well as cards. Just one thing, however - how do you know you need half the sale price to cover costs if you do not know what the sale price is yet? We assumed you had looked at your figures before launching the appeal.
You should already know your costs, so simply double that to calculate the sale price. We would be very concerned if there was any element of profit in this other than the charitable donation.

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by Harveyn on May 11, 2008 12:52:36 GMT 1, Robert - Well done on this initiative. A great charity and a fantastic concept.
Depending on the number of artists you eventually get on board and the number of sets you have to sell I think you could push your price up to ยฃ50.
I think you need to declare you fixed costs per set (exclude delivery as this is a variable and should be charged at cost separately) and then set your price. This will avoid any confusion when setting the price.
This really is a great concept and you should consider rolling it out on an annual basis.

Thanks GVD. They're the smallest stencils I've ever done and I wasn't sure how they'd turn out but I'm pretty pleased with them. Yours look the muts nuts as well mate.
Jake, do you have Roberts email address? If not I can PM you.

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 15, 2008 11:06:25 GMT 1, I've just finished mine... phew, that mid June deadline was getting close! I'll try and find a good camera today and take some pics, hopefully post them later, before I send them off next week. Haven't got a clue what y'all will think of them!
My opinion of cost would be 50 pounds including p&p... 5 cards at 10 pounds each... and what everyone is shooting for is one by a great artist plus a golden print ticket woohoo for a free print. Worth 50 quid of anyone's gambling money for a very good cause.
OK, of on a camera search! Hopefully post pics later. AP

I'll try emailing him as well and see if we have any luck. He seems like a sound guy though so I reckon all will turn out good in the end.

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 23, 2008 11:26:10 GMT 1, Morning all
Just thought I'd let you know I emailed Morrissey yesterday to say my cards were on their way across the pond and could he let me know when they arrive. I got an email from him this morning saying thanks for the email and he couldn't wait to receive them.
Also, he said once he had the final details regarding the release date he would pass them on to me.
Sounds like he's 'on radar' and in the process of finalising everything... can't wait for the release to happen. I think it'll be great fun with the surprise of opening a package not knowing whos cards you have!!

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by Agent Provocateur on Jul 3, 2008 14:18:14 GMT 1, Bumpity bump bump...
I was just wondering if anyone had a heads up on the elusive Morrissey? Sent me cards early last week, sent a few emails asking if he could let me know when they have arrived and nothing.
Just wondering if there was any news? The original schedule was for cards to get to him by mid June, so I would have expected him to have all the cards now and be sorting out the sale?

CHARITY,Comments/Advice/Suggestions on pricing, by Agent Provocateur on Jul 3, 2008 14:28:43 GMT 1, Very interesting, if slightly worrying! Can't believe after setting it up with such great artists it is just going to disappear... I'll try a PM and an email to see if I get a response. Do you think it's worth me putting my concerns ragarding lack of communication and information on when it will happen!? Think I might anyway , but politely of course .
Will let you know if I hear anything...

Very odd yet again, but this time there would appear to be much less excuse for it.
Sort it out Morrissey!
