Cauty price crash, by romanywg on Jun 7, 2007 21:30:29 GMT 1, Yeah I've noticed that. The market has been flooded with the same old prints for some time now though. Armchair Activism and Blair climbing Big Ben, not good. The older and rarer Blacksmoke prints still fetch a premium. But I think a few collectors, myself included, have become a bit dissillusioned with his output recently. Paying top price for what appear to be inkjet prints too, I may be wrong. There is so much choice with other artists nowadays. I will still collect his work but only his earlier more striking prints.

Cauty price crash, by craigf on Jun 7, 2007 21:33:46 GMT 1, Some of my first prints (I am quite a newbie) were Cauty, but once I got a definitive Liz, a bunny bomber and a couple of others I felt I had enough stamps. I would like the chimp stamp still, but until the theme changes a bit, which it looks like it will as per the Aquarium site he is now on strike I'll be checking other stuff out instead.

Cauty price crash, by craigf on Jun 7, 2007 21:34:36 GMT 1, Forgot to say I would like one of the kits with the rubber stamp to put a gas mask on a normal stamp. Definitely fun for at least 10 minutes

Cauty price crash, by craigf on Jun 7, 2007 22:02:32 GMT 1, I think a couple have recently been sold, not sure how much they were originally or what I'd do with it after the 10 minutes of fun so will probably skip on getting one and save my pennies for an over priced piece of paper with some crap drawing on it....

Cauty price crash, by Winter on Jun 7, 2007 22:21:14 GMT 1, It's strange how some artists suddenly go out of favour. I think in many ways it's a bit like buying and selling shares. Many people buy to invest and the slightest downturn people panic sell and flood the market driving the price down. That's the impression I got when I clicked on the above link. Hey-ho.

Cauty price crash, by tadghostal on Jun 7, 2007 22:53:10 GMT 1, "Winning Hearts and Minds" is the one and only Cauty print I've ever bought. I like it, and probably will for quite a while (as it appears our leadership--i.e., Dems/Repubs--agrees with near unanimity that the US has the obligation in one form or another to "spread freedom and democracy" to the world by gunpoint, and to stop any and all "terrorist" nations--read that as "places with stuff we want, currently inhabited by brown people").
Sometimes I read about how anti-war art is "in' or "out" and it always leaves me a bit dumbfounded as to how the opposition to mass murder is related to fashion. Anyways, I've bought a handful of these anti-war posters and keep them in my house as an inoculation against the media blackout of bad things done by our governments, and against the constant hyping and glorification of death by force.
That's why I dig the 'Operation Magic Kingdom" series. Yeah, they're a bit obvious. Yeah, there is a lot of anti-war art out there. But what I've come to discover is unique about the OMK series is how these pieces are not only a commentary on the current situation and reflective of my own cynical perspective--but they have also helped to shape that perspective into something different, something more insightful and useful.
Can art make a useful contribution toward improving a person's life? I'd say "Absolutely."
What any of that has to do with Cauty's art all of a sudden being worth less than toilet paper is beyond me. But the thread made me realize how much I like that piece.

Cauty price crash, by Cocteau 101 on Jun 7, 2007 23:06:57 GMT 1, Great comments from tadghostel.
As for the downturn, there has always been a large number of Cauty prints on ebay. A lot of the current ones are rejects being sold off cheap by the Aquarium. Try getting hold of a Terror Queen cheap - you've no chance, I know because I've been trying to get one for ages. Cauty has some classics that will always attract more than some others but with the cull and the strike we may see no more anyway. Anyway there for hanging on the wall, screw the share portfolios!

He is selling his whole collection of Cauty and it is vast! His tag is bcfc on this board.

I don't really see the point in getting a print if it's not going on the wall.

I agree with the Inkjet print. My Beatles prints are piss poor quality.
