Girl with Balloons / Current market price (SP), by raiden on Dec 29, 2008 6:41:30 GMT 1, Wow, "Girl with Balloon" price is really hard to estimate. To be honest, I can't give a perfect appraisal on it. I remember a signed one going on the bay for waaay below pre-crash prices about two months ago, I think it was bid up to around ยฃ6,500, but it wasn't airtight with the provenance.
Most recently, a signed one went on the bay for ยฃ12,000 as a best offer, but that result also seemed a bit suspect and I wouldn't be surprised if this was done to try to reset the price after the bid up one went for so little - and also to influence Banksy's prices in general.
I'd say a sensible, realistic auction estimate on GB should be around ยฃ7-9K, with a sensible reserve of ยฃ5.5-6K, extreme upper limit given the current market would be ยฃ13K, only because there are always a few "money is no object" new players in the Banksy print market.
