Micallef, by wildbill on Apr 24, 2007 5:53:33 GMT 1, I woke up this morning fresh out of a dream about a Micallef JD. Unusual I know! Don't worry i discussed this matter with my subconscious and we have reached an agreement that if there are going to be any more dreams about art it will be about Banksy's.
It seems that art is taking over every aspect of my life, dreams included. I really really want that print now!
I can't seem to get it out of my head, it must be a sign.

Micallef, by paulah on Apr 24, 2007 10:28:51 GMT 1, yup - mine is under the bed - away from small children! But the tubes are on top of the wardrobe - far too much potential as lightsabres to be left at ground level!

Micallef, by notitle on Apr 24, 2007 12:14:40 GMT 1, trouble is if you do find one big enough, it will almost never be the right size on both the width and height. even if you can fit it in, your mount will be different widths, or you'll have to mount over some of the image to make it even.

I think JD (like Morons) needs one of those big ornate gilt frame!
Anybody know where to pick one up cheapish?
Have tried all the second hand shops etc but there are never any nearly big eonugh round this way.
They're often referred to as "swept frames". If you do a google search - there are plenty of suppliers online. While I can't recommend a particular one personally, someone else on here might be able to. I know a couple of people were looking recently.
I actually think it's worth continuining the search at second hand shops, jumble sales and even your local auction house (if you have one). Agreed the huge size of the print makes the search a little more difficult, though no reason why you can't use a swept frame from an old mirror. You can find old mirrors in massive sizes fairly easily.
OK having the glass cut and print framed professionally is going to cost you a fair bit on top of what you pay for the mirror/frame, but it's considerably cheaper than asking your framer to build a custom swept frame of equal quality.

Ooo put a pic up when it's back!! I'm still looking for some inspiration for mine.
As for the gilt frames, picked up one off the bay for literally nothing and is perfect fit for my Friendly Fire. Just not seen one big enough for JD yet!! If anyone finds one big enough let us all know! ;D
