Morning Print, by Deleted on Mar 15, 2014 22:01:27 GMT 1, Drjimmy has a strikin camo in the fs section, i'm not a big fan of the standard camo but his is a statement piece for sure. i have a complete and intact book "in the bottom of my garden" with a split of colourless lithographs and hand finished watercolour lithographs but its quite big pennies, if you're interested in just seeing it pm me your email and i'll send a few images over when i'm back in the gallery

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by Quinnster on Mar 15, 2014 22:16:20 GMT 1, Is anyone else collecting these soup tins that are out again. I notices them a while ago but managed to pick a couple up this week. I don't know what to do with them looking for ideas really and before you say it I don't eat soup. I had mine cast in clear resin to use as bookends, they look pretty cool, I'll try and get a picture up in the near future.
How do you cast them that's a cool idea iv got a set or 2 laying around?

Morning Print, by Deleted on Mar 15, 2014 22:29:38 GMT 1, Right on topic federation, kiku is a great wee piece, not 100% on price but at the more affordable end. "In the botton of my garden" is a collection of lithos of fairys with flowers etc, thetes quite a few fakes as most of the books have been split and sold individually, again if you'd some images send over your email and i'll send some on tues, not trying to push it just if you'd like to see i'm happy to share. ps thanks mouser

I remember it going up, and a damp squib of a finish, but nothing after that. I'm sure it was one of them, but stand to be corrected. Someone will probably have the correct info, I remember it feeling, well, weird at the time cos it was a really generous offer, but fizzled out and nothing seemed to come of it, but it was bid up. Was it an Eelus piece?

As for how ugly they are I could not comment :-)

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by monsoonking on Mar 16, 2014 16:47:34 GMT 1, His 10x8 polaroids are pretty cheap (less than $2k) if you're just after an original work: onlineonly.christies.com/s/andy-warhol-at-christies-andys-world/lots/50?PageSize=&ShowAll=true&Source=&SelectedAttributeValueIds%5B0%5D=&SelectedAttributeValueIds%5B1%5D=&SortBy=HighEstimateLowToHigh Large edition protraits of less iconic individuals commonly sell for less than $10k: www.gallart.com/item.cfm?pid=6873&artist=WARHOL,%20ANDY&artistname=ANDY_WARHOL&gallery=GALLART&title=MILDRED%20SCHEEL%20FS%20II.238
It would probably be worth reaching out to the relevant specialists at the major auction houses, artnet, and some print dealers. Tell them what you want and what your price point is and they'll be able to quickly tell you what's doable.
If you primarily care about the aesthetics, the Warhol museum in Pittsburgh produces high quality giclée prints from the originals at an attractive price point. That gives you a lot of latitude in choosing size and image. (Just no bragging rights.) www.warholstore.com/shop/andy-warhol-posters-and-prints Sunday B. Morning also produces some nice looking editions for less than $1k.
I'd also be careful about viewing it as an investment. The Warhol market is among the most inflated and manipulated in the world. The bottom could easily fall out, especially for third tier images. I'd be inclined to buy Rauschenberg instead, where you can buy a large and nice screenprint for ~$3,000.

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by lobster on Mar 16, 2014 18:31:45 GMT 1, I went down this route a few years ago and can also confirm that DrJimmy is a fair guy and really knows his PopArt and also Globe Gallery in Weybridge , Surrey ( assuming your in the UK ??) are also very good.
If you have $10K to spend then you 100% will get a genuine signed Warhol and I would suggest going down that route as opposed to the Sunday B Morning which in all honesty I have never really understood (!!) and seem to differ in price very dramatically.
One print that I bought around that money was an " electric chair " - obviously its a very aggressive image but its big and looks kind of sinister (!!) - some colours are better than others but the print is big - what you will find is the condition of all Warhols prints really varies greatly obviously due to the age. Images such as reigning queens can be picked up for less than $10K but of course they tend to be quite obscure subjects !!!
One thing I would say is that if you can add another $5K or so you should be able to pick up a soup can for that kind of money - again the condition really varies with these and try and get a really red one ( if that makes sense !!) - there are a couple around the £8K estimate at Christies print sale next week or I am sure DrJimmy can point you in the right direction
Hope that helps.

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by Deleted on Mar 17, 2014 14:32:50 GMT 1, Hi Spatia, yes you can indeed get a signed Warhol for under $10k as rightly stated by my good friend Lobster you can get the electric chairs or the reigning Queens..i just sold one for £3600!
Kiku is another good image..however there are some random pieces from the Jews Portfolio you can get but not for me...again Lobster is right you can get a soup can at auction for slightly more but condition is everything my friend with these as the paper is so shit! a lot have been rescreened
always buy from reputable dealer as there are so so many fakes going around...if buying private then ensure on 100% prove with receipts/invoices etc
do not accept random US auction houses as provenance ...well dodgy
it really does down to what you like...the cheaper images are cheap for a reason..most people have never heard of them etc
PM if you want advice
ps thanks Harveyn (you ugly git Lobster, and Quinnster etc for kind comments

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Warhol’s saved files, trapped on Amiga floppy disks held by The Warhol’s archives collection, were extracted by members of the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Computer Club and its Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry in a complex recovery process. The Hillman Photography Initiative at Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) initiated and then documented this process for its The Invisible Photograph series.
