Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by sakesake on Jul 15, 2017 16:01:52 GMT 1, Not after he passed. After can be of a living artist too, it just means it was made in the manner of (...) Warhol in this case. ''After'' in french translates to ''d'après'' which could translate again in english to ''according to''.

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by Extra Ball on Jul 15, 2017 16:47:44 GMT 1, Sunday B morning was employed by Warhol for his silkscreen prints with good color codes...The serigraphs of the Factory were of poor quality (no machine, everything was done by hand).
The black pads are original editions, the blue pads are unofficial editions.
Warhol gave color codes its serigraphies then asked a Belgian company to stop the diffusison but too late.
Marylin by sunday b morning with black pads on the back is in the catalog raisonné of Warhol.
Bluegrass and others is not using the correct color codes.

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning editions were first released in 1970, Andy Warhol was not pleased. He had tried to stop production but could not. Because he had handed over the tools for the prints to be published, filing a suit would have been difficult. So when he periodically ran across a Sunday B. Morning print, Warhol would sign them “This is not by me. Andy Warhol” to express his ironic dissatisfaction. This of course only made the prints more sought after, especially the ones he signed in defiance.
Today, the black ink Sunday B. Morning prints are very rare, as many did not survive the test of time. Sunday B. Morning began publishing the prints again, after many years, in the late 90s and they continue to publish Marilyn, Flowers, Soup Cans as well as Golden Marilyn, Mao and Dollar editions today. All these prints are also stamped – now with blue ink – on the verso with “fill in your own signature” and “published by Sunday B. Morning”. While ownership of Sunday B. Morning has changed hands a couple times, the prints are still published by the same print shop in Belgium, using the same printing process they’ve used since their inception." etc etc ginaartonline.com/what-is-sunday-b-morning-and-what-is-the-connection-to-andy-warhol-art/

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by Daniel Silk on Jul 17, 2017 20:10:43 GMT 1, How do you think the existence of the Sunday B Morning prints has done to the popularity and value of the original official edition and images?
I wonder that actually the images have become much more famous and valuable due to the number of copies produced over the years. I would think the more exposure an image gets, the more popular it becomes and the demand and values of the originals rise.

I doubt the Sunday B Morning prints have done anything to the popularity and value of Warhol prints.
The value and ergo popularity is down to people like the guy in the video and also hedge funds and big auction houses.
Money money slosh slosh, buy sh*t low cost, re package , sell it for millions. Slosh slosh boom chukalaka waka aka maka Noel Galaka.

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by morleys on Jul 17, 2017 22:40:42 GMT 1, A few years ago, when I was looking for a Warhol print, I saw that the Sunday edition was not as good as the CMOA (Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute Pittsburgh) edition that seemed more "licensed".
What do you think ?

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by Howard Johnson on Jul 18, 2017 0:54:53 GMT 1, I did a bit of research on these years ago as I was intrigued about acquiring an "authentic" Marilyn for a couple hundred bucks. The long and short of it was that there is very little documentation of these in official Warhol literature. They are listed in the F&S book with the black stamp being the first edition, black stamp with numbering being the second edition, black stamp with stamped sig being the third, and blue stamp being the forth. Some sources stated that the first 3 editions were limited to 250, but other then the one that's actually numbered its really difficult to tell if that is in fact accurate.
In terms of Warhol's blessing or whatever, I found a couple sources that stating that Warhol gifted the screens to the group of printers who defected to form their own shop in the EU. Some sources allege that the first edition was printed with his permission, and the later ones were not. I imagine the truth is somewhere in the middle, as you need to keep in mind that a lot of people have a financial interest in these being "authentic."
I owned a first edition for a really long time and ended up gifting it to a friend. I've never seen the later editions, but can vouch that the first is incredibly beautiful in the flesh.
The bottom line is that these are really nice reproductions. If you really really want a Marilyn, track down a first edition and consider it authentic. As discussed above, some sources exist that back up these being at least somewhat connected with the artist. Unless your a hardcore Warhol collector, I don't think you can even really tell the difference. Hope this helps!

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by Dice on Jul 18, 2017 6:42:07 GMT 1, I looked into this in great detail a few years ago. Gina art seemed the best place to buy and her prices were highly negotiable. The quality of the prints by all accounts seems to be extremely good but if you were ever to sell it would probably be at a loss. Buy if you like the image and you won't be disappointed.

Any of the big square ones are gonna run you 10k minimum. Plenty of cheaper options available though: Castilli invites (flowers and stamps), the Pasadena silkscreen, unsigned cow wallpapers, and committee 200o which is your best best if your dead set on getting a proper signed/numbered edition.

Yeah, I get that there are other images that are cheaper, but if I'm going to spend $10k +, I better damn well like the image! I'll just save my pennies and sell a few prints/paintings when the time is right and get an image I love...I'm open to other suggestions though as I haven't isolated one specific print that I am chasing. I do love Bonnet Indian, though....

It depends how much that $100K means to you. If the money is “burning a hole” in your proverbial pocket then you should buy the image/artist that you love or most desire. If you are looking to make an investment, Warhol’s market has been established. Banksy’s market has not and certain Banksy prints, which could have been bought in the $75K range 4 months ago, are now “worth” closer to $115K-$120K. So, a $10K/month profit would be a “better” move than buying a $75K Warhol that has stayed monetarily stable. Hypothetically speaking, of course....

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by fielderglenn on Oct 7, 2017 5:41:48 GMT 1, As much as I love Andy Warhol and understand his importance/establishment in the art market, Banksy is the artist who made want to start collecting art personally. So for that reason, Banksy.
Also, Banksy has continued to elude my collection so that is another reason why I'd choose him. Hope to get a U/S Napalm or IFTL one day soon. If I had 100k, I'd get a Stop And Search print.

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by willamsa on Oct 8, 2017 0:25:49 GMT 1, You can still pick up a banksy canvas for 100k but no chance of a Warhol canvas - or 100k would buy you and print that's out there
Having said that if you shop wisely you could pick up a whole (or good portion) of a portfolio of Warhol prints for 100k - which would look amazing
From an investment perspective more upside with banksy but also more risk (can still produce works, potential unfavourable revelations about banksy) some potential downside with Warhol (more based on potential economic woes than artist driven - which would also impact Banksy)
So decision will depend on your taste (artist or specific work), risk appetite and motivation (investment or enjoyment)
