What's the deal?
On Tue 27 May, a new 'Faster Payments' system was launched for bank to bank transfers by APACS, the automated payment service. It promises to make cleared payments possible from one account to another in under 2 hours, by phone or web, for customers of thirteen big banks & building societies.
The price hasn't yet been confirmed for all banks, NatWest will be offering this for free... others are yet to confirm. This has been a huge bone of contention for a long time, so it's good to see a step in the right direction. Transfers have notoriously taken up to 4 days to clear in the past, allowing banks to sit on customers' cash, denying them interest . . .

So there will be no getting away from them!

Its already been on trial with selected sellers for a few months dependant on various factors ( feedback. seller ratings, dispute history, how long you have been a member ect ect)
