banksy valuations, by BME on Apr 5, 2008 8:49:34 GMT 1, I'd start by posting the details here- people are generally pretty good. If the forum can't help then at least someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

banksy valuations, by dealersam on Apr 5, 2008 12:50:24 GMT 1, if it were me i'd insure the canvas for 100,000 gwb for 30,000 love rat for 15000
i'm not saying that these are worth that amount but you've got to allow for price fluctuation over time otherwise you'll be constantly rectifying your policy to keep up!
hope that helps

For insurance purposes I think that's about right. Although, as you say, the actual value of the pieces is currently a fair bit lower.

banksy valuations, by pramface on Apr 5, 2008 14:53:12 GMT 1, those valuations would cost a shitload in premiums
actual market for these would be: cavases 35-45k (maybe a little more in auction), GWB 16k +, LR 5-6k. so probably insure canvases maybe 65-70k, GWB 22k and LR 10k - ish.

Although you may have them already insured, you should get a quote from www.taoi.co.uk/
Someone on the forum has just started this business, Im sure they will be pretty keen on price, well woth a try. With the money you wil be paying even 5% saving could add up to a few bob.

banksy valuations, by lee3 on Apr 5, 2008 17:46:45 GMT 1, >>>actual market for these would be: cavases 35-45k <<<
sorry, i'm new here but are you sure about that? I lost out on a single GWB at auction this week by 10k which sold for $100k. The original poster said he has the diptych GWB which is going to trade at least at $160 and I know of a dealer that has it for $200k. I'd insure at a premium to both but that's just me.
>>>those valuations would cost a s**tload in premiums<<<
Art is pretty inexpensive to insure. I've got a lot of scheduled art on my Chubb policy and it is basically $300 per year per $100k over value. That's nothing from my standpoint compared with what people pay in insurance and upkeep on their home. I've always considered scheduled art a nice little bargain and have always pushed to have as high of appraisal value as possible just in case. And Chubb will still pay up to 150% of the appraised value if it has risen since you last updated.
