This piece is called something like 'i told you not to tell that joke twice'. It probably offers the best insight into where he's coming from in my book. Someone who was attracted to being criminalised by the very nature of his art and has developed an even healthier distaste for all sorts of authority because of it. Including academic snobbery and the art industry itself.
