Why pay big bucks for limited prints., by dinomaa on Feb 15, 2008 19:37:16 GMT 1, Not trying to say that people are wasting their money just trying to understand a bit more.
Why do Limited addition prints go for so much? Artists charge hundreds of pounds for a limited print but this is not an original art work how is it better than a poster for ยฃ9.99?
I see that the Dolk che released as a limited number print of 100 was latter changed in size slightly and released again as a "limited" print of 750!?! Give it another month and the next size "limited" 2000 prints will be out.
I want a shopping trolley by banksy but don't want to spend too much so went on ebay and found a canvas company that does them for 40quid. Now I will have the same image as someone who pays thousands for a fraction of the cost and no need to frame as is on canvass.
Please enlighten me to what the crack is with these signed prints.

Why pay big bucks for limited prints., by imbue on Feb 15, 2008 19:48:03 GMT 1, well most 'prints' are screen prints and each one is had printed. A screen print has such a nice look and feel to it. Being a limited edition makes the print valuable like currency because there is only so many in circulation. Hope that helps a little.

If you want fakes buy fakes. If it keeps you away from buying the real thing you'll get no argument from me . One less bidder to compete with.
