Giving too much money to Paypal?, by gbh on Nov 6, 2006 1:52:10 GMT 1, Yes, me too. I know it"provides protection" to some degree but if you are trying to send funds internationally to "trusted" parties, why doesn't anyone use Telegraphic transfers?

I've used TT's several times when dealing with businesses globally and funds clear normally in 48 hours direct to the recipients account. The only fee will be the TT fee from the senders bank (here in Australia my bank charges $30 Au regardless of the funds amount sent). This is considerably less than what the seller ends up paying paypal.
Just a thought as there does seem to be quite a few large value transactions happening around here lately and paypal must be minting it out of us.

I've been finding a cheap, safe, and fast way to send money internationally for the longest time - Thanks!!!
I used Western Union for my last transaction - they made £80 off me!!!! In addition to a transaction fee, they make money off the currency exchange too. I didn't have a choice then, but I'm never using them ever again.

Giving too much money to Paypal?, by gbh on Nov 6, 2006 5:36:41 GMT 1, yep, for transactions of the size that go on with some of these prints Paypal and the like are really raking it in.
With a TT, you just pay the TT fee and then funds are wired directly to the account. Pretty much every bank has this facility but many will require you physically go to the bank to initiate the process. Lucky for me I can do it immediately online.
