Getting a print framed in Bristol, by ryskip on Nov 27, 2007 15:57:21 GMT 1, Sorry if this information can be found somewher else, looked but no joy.
Can anyone recommend a tried and trusted framing shop in Bristol?
Also an idiots guide to framing woild be appreciated. I've read things about avoiding dry mount and keeping print from the glass etc so any other tips would be great!

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by br1stol on Nov 27, 2007 16:27:43 GMT 1, Niche frames all the way my friend - quality goods, quality service as standard!
Not cheap, but then getting a decent frame made with mounts that match your print is never going to be cheap...
BTW - a little heads up! Habitat have some really nice black or natural birch wood frames at a decent price at the mo - top of Park St past the Triangle. I scooped 2 80x60cm frames for some prints i have for £27 each and they a very nice indeed, obviously a bit of DIY needed but a hell of a lot cheaper then getting the custom made job...!
Hope that is of some help to ya...

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by ryskip on Nov 27, 2007 18:31:02 GMT 1, Thanks for the info, I've heard good things about Niche before, I'm looking to frame my B&W Trolley when/if it arrives and reframing my Happy Chopper as the frame I bought it in doesn't do it justice.
Could get expensive!

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by jellya on Nov 28, 2007 19:08:08 GMT 1, Just got back from Niche this afternoon. Friendly and helpful and not too pricy.
Got to see some museum glass samples which were amazing. This glass is so good for letting all the print colour through. It was a bit of an eye-opener and a suprise.

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by goodbyekitty on Nov 29, 2007 8:59:58 GMT 1, It's gotta be Niche. All my prints done by them, great service and advice, never pushy or trying to sell you stuff you can't afford or don't want.
Oh, and the museum glass is amazing. I have my flags done with that. Supposedly the British Museum use it...... makes me feel very cultured although you're not allowed to touch it or it leave huge marks!

Edit: If you go to Niche they won't let you do anything silly with your print like dry mounting it and they'll treat it like it's their own. Listen to their advice, that's the best advice I can give.

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by jellya on Nov 29, 2007 10:35:20 GMT 1, Popped in there yesterday for a quote. They did say they were rather busy... I wonder why?
Flyers for 12 days were everywhere, plus some other good looking shows in the city.
Good to see Jago's been doing some serious paintwork on the street just up the road.

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by Adamski on Nov 29, 2007 12:08:40 GMT 1, I drove right past that on Monday and completely missed it...must've had my eyes close.
Although, I've learnt not to look at the walls while I'm driving round there as a few months ago I rear ended a nice old lady because I was staring at a Ghostboy in the old Audi garage.
+1 for the Jago, I'll have a look next week when i pick up some bits from Niche.

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by becksaboo on Nov 29, 2007 23:16:06 GMT 1, museum glass is def worth the money- i got my iftl one done in it and when we were chosing the glass he put museum and normal uv next to each other and the difference was huge! was quite surprised seeing as though the print is mainly b & w- i thought museum was mainly good for making colours ping.

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by ryskip on Dec 10, 2007 22:49:19 GMT 1, Thanks for all the help on this. I'm going to take a trip to Niche on the weekend just wondeering how much it's likey to cost, I'm aware it all depends on type of glass and materials of the actual frame but I'm just after a ball park figure, as I'm not sure if it'll be one or two I get done?

Getting a print framed in Bristol, by Adamski on Dec 11, 2007 9:21:24 GMT 1, It really depends on what you are having framed.
They are very competetive on pricing. Most of the prints I've had done there come in usually around £80-£100 (for a 50 X 70), but if it's a big print it'll be more. Also, I don't get museum/non reflective glass, that'll add a bit.
I do most my prints in a plain white box frame with a white mount. A fancy frame will be more I should think. Also, if you want something a bit more custom, it will no doubt be a bit more again.
It can also be cheaper though. I've just had a small original box (copyright) done for a bargain £62 (in a white box frame again!)
Hope this helps. There's no telling how much it's actually going to cost untill you go and spec it up though.
