Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by syrren on Dec 6, 2007 23:06:20 GMT 1, Anybody else convinced they have an addiction to collecting things? Anybody prepared to admit to being obsessed with their collections or collection habits? Any weird or wonderful collections? My wife is convinced I have a problem. Thankfully she still loves me despite all my faults. I started off collection lights (last count 26), I then started on chairs (last count 33) and then I started on Art (I'm not going to admit to my count on this). Other minor collections range from Baseball Caps to Vinyl Toys. Now I am thinking about collecting signed books of Artist works that I have originals (Matt Small & Jef Aerosol already in the bag). I conclusion my wife is right, but at least I can admit to it..... ;D ;D ;D
I collect Art, Chairs and Cats Here's an image of one of my chairs with one of my cats! This chair is from the 70's, another area I like collecting! The cat is a young Maine Coon, I also have a Somali...

Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by Philippe on Dec 6, 2007 23:09:45 GMT 1, that cat looks really soft and I like his free flwoing whiskers. A book on wife collecting I recommend is the Art of the Misses, well written and full of wife collecting stories gone mad It's kind of like a riches to rags story...

Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by melmoth on Dec 6, 2007 23:56:25 GMT 1, im stuck with a pile of comics that arent worth krap. And trading cards. and a tonne of vinyl toys.
I have a pile of comics that are worth krap - used to collect 50s horror comics big time. Then, when I got a bit more money, started to collect artwork from comics I loved as a kid, Bill Sienkiewicz, Brian Bolland, etc.
Then, started collecting gig posters when I got into Pearl Jam, then other gig posters, then art prints of gig posters, then, and then...
I've got to get a better handle on my spending though.
I have to. ;D

Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by leehambly on Dec 7, 2007 0:01:41 GMT 1, Not too long ago I lived by the simple maxim: if it wouldnt all fit in a shopping trolley (sorry to say that word) then some of it aint worth keeping.
I managed to keep it up into my 30's (15 odd years was a damned good run) and then 2 years ago in a moment of rage (and to prove a point, they often go together... I'm kinda like that!) bought a house. Pretty much filled it now, with useless trash, one way or another... I think its just part of the (very much male) human condition, it can be controlled but only as an active part of your daily life, ie: keeping yourself in constant check, buy something and purge... constant process. Either way, you're fucked, imho.
And so now, I collect spices (yeah, yeah), books, dvd's, ripped mp3's and avi's (they don't take up much room at all and you can give them away without much consideration to friends, makes them smile... a total purge feels great too and doesnt really hurt either!), and prints most recently... I figure I filled the shelves (I refuse to put up any more!)... so now its spreading to the walls... even have a small collection of pebbles (from oceans I have seen - I'm not a nutter or anything!).

Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by dmandpenfold on Dec 7, 2007 1:18:03 GMT 1, I keep my wives in the cellar with my stuffed animals Are there any good books out there on wife collecting that anyone can recommend?
one of my mate's is indonesian, him and his wife have a little book like a passport that is actually their marriage certificate, it's very neat, both are the same except his has loads of extra pages just like a passport, so he can add more wives..what an idea!
There's even a page which lists all the things that the wife brought to the marriage so if they divorce then by law she can only leave with those same things.....

Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by rolyateel on Dec 7, 2007 9:19:49 GMT 1, Mmm
I used to be a huge Prince fan...and similar to (tho not as bad as) Morrissey, I used to buy CD's / Vinyl from all over the world.....then that changed over to Star Wars figures.....that slowed down (and stopped a few years ago) & changed back to music, just no one band in particular, but buying CD's (well in excess of 1000) & going to see bands live (75 this year) is like an obsession....and I've now added art to that.
I need help

Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by pezlow on Dec 7, 2007 9:48:14 GMT 1, Football programmes and memorabilia, cigarette cards and various other collecting things. But art has been the most long standing. It's definitely got worse recently though. Up until 18 months ago every single piece of art I bought was framed and hung on the wall. Now I have a "framing queue" that gets longer and longer.
