Collections - Have You Got A Problem!!!!, by Harveyn on Dec 6, 2007 21:49:33 GMT 1, Anybody else convinced they have an addiction to collecting things? Anybody prepared to admit to being obsessed with their collections or collection habits? Any weird or wonderful collections?
My wife is convinced I have a problem. Thankfully she still loves me despite all my faults.
I started off collection lights (last count 26), I then started on chairs (last count 33) and then I started on Art (I'm not going to admit to my count on this).
Other minor collections range from Baseball Caps to Vinyl Toys. Now I am thinking about collecting signed books of Artist works that I have originals (Matt Small & Jef Aerosol already in the bag).
I conclusion my wife is right, but at least I can admit to it..... ;D ;D ;D

Music, books, starwars figures ( when I was younger)..... naturally unhealthy obsessions. Art is by far the worst and most expensive though.

I check loads of sites and have newsletters etc some on a daily basis. Basically I'll buy everything I like, in fact I did a really stupid thing a few weeks ago and listened to some samples off the web and was well impressed so clicked buy, when I came to put it into iTunes I found I already had it, it just got buried in the pile and hadn't been played much, DOH!
Music is my worst (best) habit.

I love chairs to,because of the business Im in I think I will win the chair thing though,I once gave up counting at 550,heres a couple of my current favs........which are a departure for me as I generally love chrome or plastic chairs.

I collect matches from bars Ive drunk in - dont know why, I don't look at em, I gave up smoking years ago, so don't use them.
It's basically a testament to the many places I've been drunk......and in that regard, it's shocking.

Not insured as they are just books but when I looked at it the other day, they are worth a mint.....Signed Hirst books, First edition Spraycan art, subway art etc etc. Its always nice to own art books featuring art that you have on the wall, or it was.

I look after things, but not myself.

From there I began finding about artwork I appreciate, now every where I look in my new house there's either a Faile, Banksy, or Micallef...I couldn't be happier. I think addictions are good because they can lead you to other fun addictions ;D

I used to collect Whitefriars glass from the mid 60's! Had the chair addiction too.
