Postal to the USA, by RetroCanvas on Dec 4, 2007 9:11:24 GMT 1, On the parcelforce world wide, they have a postal quote thing.
I'd use that for a good guide. Other couriors will be more expensive and a lot of them don't cover for artwork (insurance wise)

Postal to the USA, by nickyjgordon on Dec 4, 2007 9:34:11 GMT 1, Gosh, just tried that. For a .75kg, 80cm tube it will cost a minimum of £20 for 5 day delivery, and thats untracked, no insurance.

Postal to the USA, by f5ers on Dec 4, 2007 9:52:44 GMT 1, Go with international signed for with enhanced insurance with Royal Mail. Tell them its printed papers as this can make a difference to the price (cheaper). Prolly cost somewhere around £25 but depends on weight.

Postal to the USA, by misteraitch on Dec 4, 2007 10:05:25 GMT 1, I've sent a few items to the US and unfortunately, if you want insurance, then you can end up looking at a substantial amount of cash
International Signed For is only valid up to around £30 so additional compensation is a must if it's a valuable print. Obviously the size of the tube is a contributing factor, as is the value of the goods in transit, so the price can vary greatly.
I recently sent a print in a 1000mm x 150mm long tube and had to pay £75
On a side note, guaranteed (and insured) Special Delivery in the UK is only possible in tubes that are 900mm in length or below, anything over that and you're into the realms of Parcel Farce, so it's worth bearing that in mind when shipping mainland.

Cheers for that, good advice, particularly mainland info. My tube for USA is 800mm, or there abouts (32inch).
When you say you had to pay £75, was that including some insurance or was that just postage?
