Dry Mounted, by jipsy on Nov 21, 2007 18:02:37 GMT 1, Is there any going back after dry mounting or is it the end? I have dry mounted print (who shall remain nameless) and would like to know if there exists a process of returing it to it' former self.

Dry Mounted, by Deleted on Nov 21, 2007 18:05:53 GMT 1, There is 0% chance of returning it to a non-drymounted state. A spray adhesive is placed on the back and it's then put into a big heating iron apparatus which basically bonds the print to the foamboard. sorry

Depends how its been done gypsy, the only real way to know is to get it to a specialist and see what they say ( if you know who did it, thet might be worth contacting too, to ask which processes were used. Good luck with it but its often a print fucker

Dry Mounted, by lesbianwednesdays on Nov 21, 2007 18:11:51 GMT 1, not that i know of, you may be able to remove it from the mount board but surely the remains of the adhesive will still be there? also, the level of heat required to 'soften' the glue will cause major damage to the paper and indeed the image?
leave it, it can usually be well hidden and framed it should look perfectly fine. the problem is long term damage to the paper and therefore the print itself. also if selling be prepared to sell way below market price, i would not lose sleep over a cheapish print that could easily be replaced but something valuable and/or scarce i wouldn't touch with a shitty stick.

Dry Mounted, by Harveyn on Nov 22, 2007 10:04:45 GMT 1, I do know that for the very latest techniques in DM they have developed a completely reversible process. Still would never consider having it done.
