letting it hang in the bathroom, by jones27 on Nov 22, 2007 0:19:49 GMT 1, Just wondering if anyone has hung a framed print in their bathroom ? I am tempted to place a little piece above the toilet but am worried about condensation/steam effecting the print. There is no window but I do have an (old) extractor fan. Has anyone on here been daft enough to risk a print in their bathroom ?

letting it hang in the bathroom, by leehambly on Nov 22, 2007 0:31:19 GMT 1, personally a no no for anything of value, if above a radiator is bad, then the bathroom (or kitchen) just can't be good...
that said I have been thinking a great deal about a couple of Invaders, but worked permanently into the tiling... if only I knew where to get one cheap?

letting it hang in the bathroom, by 'bric on Nov 22, 2007 0:38:50 GMT 1, I am sure that with enough cash you could get it framed in a way that would protect it, but it's a dangerrous game to play!
How about getting on one of those banksy rip-off canvas things? Would only cost a few quid and I would't be suprised if it held up pretty well.

letting it hang in the bathroom, by leehambly on Nov 22, 2007 0:45:46 GMT 1,
Got one of them already in the recent release, want another one or two (very pricey though) - picked up another recently (the runner) from an unclaimed auction (think it may be too expansive to paste into the wall though, not sure yet)... when I've spent god knows how much on the rest of the room, a few quid on a couple of centrepieces shouldn't kill me, but its the finality of it, they're fairly fragile, doubt it'll cope with being ripped out... hopefully Invader'll release some more before I finish it... fairly likely at the rate I'm going! This guy is just around the corner somewhere so would save on postage.

Could you not just buy some mosaic tiles make your own invader and put them into the tile work, then you wont have the worry of them getting damaged or having to remove them when you move house.

letting it hang in the bathroom, by jones27 on Nov 22, 2007 0:50:41 GMT 1, I think eric the dogs art would look good in a bathroom, like the one where the toad rowing the box is something worthy to ponder at whilst having a piss.

Sorry to hijack the thread Jones!
Yeah, had thought of that... get some cheap mosaic tiles and do a load of them... but then I'd know and probably do something ultimately uncool, like mix the wrong colours... at the same time at retail price an unsigned one is, though expensive, not too much to sacrifice for knowing its real... part of me thinks they're made for all weather surfaces... so given that the bathroom is always a problem area, where better for em?
On the cheap canvas point, I bought a very cheap "Mild Mild West" for above my only radiator and surprisingly it isnt that nasty... my Mum likes it, which is the main thing.

letting it hang in the bathroom, by tomjedimaster on Nov 22, 2007 1:06:44 GMT 1, i have the set of 3 cauty definitive series pieces in my bathroom. the pigment inks seem to be surviving fine on the prints. i think that it might be the gas masks on the queen that's helping the prints stay alive!

letting it hang in the bathroom, by collector on Nov 22, 2007 1:29:58 GMT 1, I've got a couple of prints hanging in my bathroom with no problems but I have to say I leave my bathroom door open when I'm having a shower so it does not really steam up that much, if at all. Providing the print is not touching the glass I would say it's not as risky as we all think. Having said that I would not risk a ยฃ20k Banksy but a ยฃ100 print is worth the risk, saves having some generic IKEA picture or canvas in there.

letting it hang in the bathroom, by rolyateel on Nov 22, 2007 13:38:44 GMT 1, i have an unsigned faile in my bathroom - at ยฃ25 cost I wasn't concerned at the risk. provided the room doesn't get really badly steamed up I can't see the problem
I've also got 2 prints on walls above radiators...with no sign of any problem at all (a D*Face Hate, and a Micallef JD)

letting it hang in the bathroom, by Tyler Durden on Nov 22, 2007 14:46:23 GMT 1, This print is starting to concern.. I suppose it's the sentimentality that I have with my prints, but the thought of getting something (albeit a cheapo print) and hanging it somewhere precarious, then after a few years it getting damaged in me not being able to replace it, then that would be my concern.
Banksy soup can unlimited litho for me, next to my FHM calendar (that's been damaged by being in the bathroom) and that's about it for me!

letting it hang in the bathroom, by Andy'77 on Nov 22, 2007 15:12:15 GMT 1, I've got a homemade two-piece Girl with Balloon canvas in the bathroom and a framed bit of Lucy McLauchlans - Heads wrapping paper. And a cut-up Banksy soup can poster in the kitchen...
I also have prints above radiators too, if I didn't, two of the biggest walls in the house would be plain. I've put a shelf above each radiator to hopefully deflect some of the heat.
