Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by graeme501 on Nov 18, 2007 15:06:02 GMT 1, ill start it off with my 3
my banksy morons has a small spec of galaxy chocolate on the edge of the print, i was flattening it out / admiring it when i dropped some chocolate on it , luckly it only left the smallest smallest mark, and is the same colour of sepia so if anyone asks its from there ;D
while mounting my space invader invasion kit i was wondering if it was made out of real tile or not, when it promptly slipped and smashed on the floor - thus proving my point, luckly only 2 tiles were damaged and after a quick email, the man himself sent 2 spare tiles over
just 5 minutes ago as i was once again flattening out / admiring my micallef GIWTTB, i was holding it down with glasses, and i put 1 upside down and of course there was still a wee bit of water in it for some reason it just brushed off with no damage to the print, with the only damage being to my heart
hoo wants to make me feel better with their stories ?

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by curiousgeorge on Nov 18, 2007 15:34:28 GMT 1, Uffff, I could write a book on this subject*
*About 2 pages long
Damaged Flags, POW were very, very good at replacing it
Too many creased prints to mention all fixed via a combination of mdf sheets, tissue paper/brown paper, gentle water mist, heavy weights and an iron

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by wezzley on Nov 18, 2007 16:44:57 GMT 1, I bought a cwsb about year & half ago ......got it in the post......gleefully settled down for the tube opening ceremony.......opened up the tube to find...............it was empty......checked like 100 time.....it must be in there......somewhere.....noooooooooo. did an impression of basil fawlty in the psychiatrists episode....
seller rekoned it got nicked, royal mail didnt want to know because I had signed for it before realising....(NOTE TO ALL - check the print is ok BEFORE you sign even if it means keeping the postie waiting 5 mins).
Luckily a few weeks later......another forum member...think it was theold ebay forum at the time...posted a story that sounded strangely familiar....empty tube - same seller....so I tracked the scamming bstard down (with a bit of hacking help from another forum member to whom I am still eternally grateful) - turned out he was/is a teacher at a prominent London private school!
threatened to pretty much ruin his career & break his legs....& I was serious - got a text - "whats your bank details" - result.
Then set about helping out the guy in the states - who also sucessfully got his dosh back.
If you are reading this, which I rekon you are, your card is marked...try any more s**t & you are going down

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by jellya on Nov 18, 2007 16:57:29 GMT 1, I found my son crawling over my portfolio! Absolutely no damage at all, but I did feel physically sick for a few mins. More of a collection horror story.

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by carl on Nov 18, 2007 20:18:09 GMT 1, I have been lucky but a friend was once telling me about a friend of his who had a portfoio of rare Banksy prints. All Signed. I think the value (in the summer) was about £170k nothing was insured. He went on holiday and when he returned his flat was flooded, he lived in a basement flat, so no one to know. He Portfolio was on the floor, every print ruined.
Dont keep your portfolio on the floor!

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by snelj8 on Nov 18, 2007 20:49:03 GMT 1, not sure, this was the print that was offered on ebay for 1200 BIN, ended up the guy said he had 3 Laugh Now prints - 2 unframed and 1 framed. Discussion was back at .. banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=ebaychat&action=display&thread=1194119499&page=1
Not sure if this is a seller on forum. But I believe he sold to medicjones1 and beau, although medicjones had a framed piece, so may want to check that out!
The seller provided TomTom provenance and I inquired with the other 2 to check that they didnt get some photocopy or same number print. Medicjones responded with a different number but beau never got back to me.
It all makes me a bit concerned. I am thinking of disputing this charge on my card right now.

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by snelj8 on Nov 18, 2007 21:41:08 GMT 1, i dont believe this is slagging you .. im not even sure what that means, but as a buyer who sees the exact same print from the same seller, with the exact same damage. It all makes it a bit suspicious.
I know what offers you made, but I also have a right to be concerned when I inquire about a damaged piece and then all of sudden someone totally different posts a pic of the exact same damage to another print purchased from you.
Also, I have been nothing but respectful to this point, and have inquired on the forums because there are knowledgeable people here who can assist. I never denied the authenticity, but spending over 1000GBP to someone I dont even know, I feel I have a right to inquire about the piece I purchased.

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by snelj8 on Nov 18, 2007 21:59:16 GMT 1, as i said, i know your offers, and sent you several emails to resolve. As well, to calm you down I removed the ebay link from my previous post,
so now if you want to take this offline and resolve this through our email that may be best ...
if there was any perfect subject line to a thread...

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by morrissey1 on Nov 18, 2007 22:20:57 GMT 1, I just went to take my Ian Francis In the End print in to my local framers, cut a deal for a good price, got everything I wanted in the framing, and just before I was to leave I said to the woman, please be careful with my print, as I can't replace it and it's valuable...she then says to me, well, we are not insured to cover a replacement value of anything over 200 US, and that we can't guarantee that we will be as careful with your print as you would like us to be.....I nearly died...but then her husband came out and said, don't listen to her, I will take care of it myself, it will be completely safe....so, this story may or may not end as a print nightmare...will know in a couple of weeks

that looks worse than what it is. the laugh now's were printed on really cheap paper and the print does not go all the way to the ends of the paper, unlike the queen vic etc etc, which then makes it easier to roll cause the paper becomes thicker. my laugh now had the same kind of crease's when i got it from TOM TOM but my framing place got it out and it dont even notice..rumour has it that they used cheap wall paper lining for this print...

Whats your Print Horror Stories?, by beau on Nov 18, 2007 23:30:36 GMT 1, NOW THEN NOW THEN! Can i just say what an ordeal this purchase has been! - BUT all is sweet! it was a real stress and looked like a scam, a fuck up on delivery, dif people messaging me saying they've bought the same print, then it turns up creased!
But i believe it's genuine, prov checks out, looks good, it's now framed the crease is out - it's mint or as close to as naked eye will pick up through a frame
And the seller is a top guy who's got loads of grief over this - although he did phone me kickin off when i emailed him sayin he'd fucked the packing up - tried to blame me then the postage people - but anyway it's sorted so i'm happy
i think the laugh print creased when rolling because as stated it's not on the best paper and the print ink is fairly thick and ends leaving a border - so it creased right where th ink meets the border
An accident and it comes out easy - or mine did so dont be too harsh on the seller - he seems a top bloke and genuine to me - he's very free with his correspondence and personal details
Here's pics of my beautiful monkey - been after this fucker from day one - anyone got a signed they want to throw at me - creased or not!
the other pics are just because i had the camera in my hand to put this right and thought i'd throw em in the mixer - happy is on the floor cos monkey nicked it's place - it's gonne replace shat at canvas on the wall to the right of Monkey
PEACE ALL!

Looks great!!! I cant see what all the fuss was about. Would of been a mare if it was damaged right across the middle. seems it was creased where mine was, where there's no ink. Hat's off to the seller for at least offereing to help out. ;D
