ADAM NEATE!!!, by RBK on Apr 29, 2007 17:45:03 GMT 1, Sorry to be a broken record.... but I am looking to purchase Adam Neate pieces (excluding the prints and skateboards).
Please PM if you have anything. Most likely it would be a straight purchase - but depending on the quality of the piece I may be convinced to swap some of my Banksy collection.

ADAM NEATE!!!, by ABC on Apr 29, 2007 22:03:27 GMT 1, I dont see why someone wouldnt sell a Neate street piece as they are nothing compared to the Gallery Originals and fetch not much more then an Unsigned Banksy print. Good luck RK if you get to many offers pass some to me.

ADAM NEATE!!!, by RBK on Apr 29, 2007 22:15:03 GMT 1, ABC - I don't think people are grasping the great distinction between the street pieces and the originals. I got a great email from Adam stating that the street pieces take him 5-10 minutes to make - some of those gallery pieces take 3 months!

I got a great email from Adam stating that the street pieces take him 5-10 minutes to make - some of those gallery pieces take 3 months!
ok there are 2 ways of looking at this...
1 gallery piece painting takes 129600 minutes = ยฃ3000
using this as a formula 1 minutes work should be worth 3000 divided by 129600
SO...
1 street painting that takes 10 minutes should be worth 23p
which is bullshit.. artists dont work by the minute...
There was this king somewhere and he went to see the best artist in the land and said " I want a nice painting of a fish please I hear you are the best " and the artist said " ok fella come back in a year "
** a year passes **
The king comes back he is a bit excited .. he walks into the studio and the artist is standing there with a blank sheet of paper and a brush.. with about 3 brushstrokes he draws a fish.. it is AWESOME , it looks like it is swimming across the paper.. it is just beautiful and the king is pretty stoked on his fish drawing ..
"fuck yeah nice fish drawing ! wow ! ....but hold on..." says the king " I waited a year and you painted that fish in about 5 seconds , what is up with that, artist dude ? "
The artist goes over to a cupboard and opens it. Thousands and thousands of preliminary drawings spill out of the cupboard , drawings of the fish he had done again and again trying to get it right..
artist gets paid in full...

Signed my last pay cheque, did it double in value, did it feck ! (then again, it'd be pretty worthless without the signature )

ADAM NEATE!!!, by RBK on Apr 30, 2007 15:37:30 GMT 1, Pure Evil - The point I'm just trying to make is that the quality/value of an ElmsLesters gallery piece (approx. 10K GBP) is in a whole other league compared to the works that Adam has left on the street.
That being said - I'm dying to still get one.

ADAM NEATE!!!, by ABC on Apr 30, 2007 16:32:15 GMT 1, I agree RK, Just because it by the same artist doesn't mean to say its worth the same. Lets give an example, Banksy original canvas, say ยฃ50k with full Laz Prov vs Banksy road cone found on the street with no Provenance, need I say more. Relate that to Neates work and you have a gallery work with Elms Prov vs cardboard work found by Mr smith in Brick Lane by a skip with no prov. Regardless of how good the image is the gallery piece is normally always going to be worth a lot more, fact.
