LA Edition, by rob on Nov 2, 2007 12:48:52 GMT 1, I was lucky enough to purchase the complete set of 6 in LA and am not sure if the UK editions are the same.
For example my Trolleys and Sale Ends prints are both 3 colour Black, Red with a screened cream background. The UK edtion are only two colour red and black with no screened background.
Can anyone shed any light onto this??
PS I know Sale Ends is yet to be released but I would presume it would be the same as Trolleys.

LA Edition, by Chuck D on Nov 2, 2007 19:41:20 GMT 1, I absolutely agree the LA prints are extremely rare. Only 100 prints of each image were released. I would have to bet there aren't many complete sets out there.

LA Edition, by dmandpenfold on Nov 2, 2007 21:23:12 GMT 1, I've also read somewhere here that the LA trolleys has a tree in the background and the POW version has been subject to a little deforestation
I assume there is some little difference on all of the prints anyone know if this goes for grannies, applause etc, i see the gold frame on Morons has already been mentioned on an earlier post.

I think Grannies is the same (apart from POW stamp) LA Applause is darker and more contrasty (some prefer the LA one but I think the POW one is better it holds more detail without 'filling in') LA trolleys is three colour due to the cream background, POW is 2 without. Moron LA has yellow frame. I guess we'll have to wait for Festival, and Sale Ends.
Ive been wondering what they will do to Festival too as I have the LA but to me the brown background works so well I cant see how they will improve it? Sale Ends is great as it is too. I reckon no change like Grannies

LA Edition, by JD on Nov 2, 2007 22:08:17 GMT 1, I'm pretty sure I'm right keeping it real, if you can find anyone who's got a POW LA series print with numbers between 60 - 140 I may come round to your thinking, I think you'll find the LA prints are numbered approx 50-150 (again if you can find LA prints numbered 400/500 or drastically out of the range I've quoted, I may be persauded) I've got a POW Grannies print the number is 45. Lets get Agent Bacardi's thoughts on this, he was there and saw the books at the LA show.
Mine is between 60 and 70 from LA
In fact its my favourite number chortle chortle

I lost 15 for that I've got plenty of respect and I'm not that bothered about it, just after hearing a few grumbling on this thread thought I'd say it happens to us all, also I haven't said any thing worth a neg. I hate people taking a pop just cos they might think (wrongly) that I've had a pop at them.
What I was trying to say is what sort of muppet would neg you for an honest opinion? Thats what its all supposed to be about. I have a programme that shows who negs me, very useful

LA Edition, by RBK on Nov 3, 2007 0:23:36 GMT 1, The LA version of Morons is much better than the POW version IMHO. And from pictures I've seen, think the LA Applause is also better.
I wonder if they will change the number and currency symbol on the POW Festival prints (would think so)?

Currency yeah good point, especially as the $ is worth less now. $30 is now nothing, dilutes the ironic message, its like he's giving them away

LA Edition, by ร
gent รacardi on Nov 3, 2007 0:59:26 GMT 1, I disagree, The story I heard from Laz was the the LA & the UK editions are completely different and the numbering bears no relevance between the two Studios, Modern Mutiples and POW. Six hundred in total were released in LA all printed by Modern Multiples and that was an edition all on it's own.
'Fraid not mate, only 100 of each were released to the public in LA, and these would be numbered approximately (not exactly) from 51/500 to 150/500. On top of this, the first 50 of each print edition were reserved for the artist to give away to VIPs/friends/workers at the show/etc. (i.e., print numbers 1/500 to 50/500).
So the print numbers released from POW would generally go from 151/500 all the way to 500/500. That's not to say that it's impossible for a POW release to be numbered sub-50, because even though 50 were set aside as gifts, not all of them were given away, so the remaining ones would intuitively go to the POW release. Also, there may have been some 'holes' within numbers 51-150 (i.e., it is entirely possible for a POW print to be numbered between 51-150), because even though they planned to release 100 of each print in LA, less than 100 of each were released in actuality. I know this because the lady selling the prints was marking the quantity sold on a tally sheet, and because I'm a nosy parker (heh heh), I counted less than 100 of each print sold by the time they decided to stop selling (i.e.: Less than 100 of each print was actually released in LA).
Regarding print vs canvas discrepancies, the Trolley Hunters print from both LA and POW releases do not have the tree in the background like the original has. They are also missing the cute lil' baby trolley that is in the original.
Also, all LA prints were numbered only, and none were signed and/or stamped. Only printers proofs from Modern Multiples had the POW and Poodle stamps. They were signed as well.
Hope this clears things up a bit

LA Edition, by rob on Nov 3, 2007 10:44:12 GMT 1, Thanks for all the replys. Mine are all numbered identically in low 100's. sadly they don't have the printers poodle stamp on them. I thought they were only on the PP's. Although I have never seen the UK editions of Moron's Trolleys and the yet to be released Sale Ends I do think that the more colour the better IMHO. PS out of all 6, Festival would be my favourite.

LA Edition, by ร
gent รacardi on Nov 3, 2007 23:06:32 GMT 1, If what your saying is true the whole edition is spoiled. How can you have half of a limited edition print run in a different colour, ink and run by different printers from the other. That's like saying they are two editions anyway.
I agree with the spoiled edition thing. A print edition should all be identical, otherwise they'll be considered separate editions. If they wanted to add more color or have color variants, they should have released them separately (a la Sepia Morons or Trollies in technicolor). Applause wasn't that bad, but the LA vs. POW Morons were definitely too different to be considered as the same run IMO.
But well, things are what they are. I'm sure it's just a matter of technicalities at the end of the day.
