TOO MANY TUBES - COMMUNAL WAREHOUSE GALLERY UTOPIA, by beau on Oct 24, 2007 0:31:10 GMT 1, hmmm... bit of a daydream
just got back from trip away and sitting in my office here looking at 3 seperate piles of canvas, framed work and tubes... and thats only on this floor - lounge kitchen - the same -
2 more had arrived while we were gone which neighbours took in - girlfriend kicking off royal - buying all this art - where's it going - how much are you spending?!?!
doorbell went while we were unpacking and stressin on mess- was a titifreak sempre - beautiful in person - beautiful gold ink - another tube - more art - she went mental - i told her it's for her office so she couldn't go completely mad - was funny though
ANYWAY - always thinking i need a bigger pad - more wall space - i just took on a new office block and we're fortunate enough to have a floor for a new venture so will be gallerying a lot there - open to forum members of course
BUT WAS THINKING - wouldn't it be great to set up a communal gallery - a warehouse type affair - all raw brick and white wash - you rent wall space 'a plot' for your own collection - one main entrance in and staff - security on the door - you check things in and everything in your area is inventoried - members only -
A beautiful environment for you to get away and enjoy your pieces - and share with others - and of course be surrounded by loadsa like minded people and their collections - all open plan
An art addicts Utopia - no more tubes
JOIN ME PEOPLE - THIS COULD BECOME A REALITY
i will think more on it and outline the scheme!
ahhh daydreams!

TOO MANY TUBES - COMMUNAL WAREHOUSE GALLERY UTOPIA, by pezlow on Oct 24, 2007 8:54:25 GMT 1, Kind of similar but I have been thinking some time that with people's collections on here we ought to have some sort of exhibition/fair/swap meet type thing...

TOO MANY TUBES - COMMUNAL WAREHOUSE GALLERY UTOPIA, by romanywg on Oct 24, 2007 9:00:26 GMT 1, I was thinking exactly the same thing! I was at the London Expo Anime Convention at the weekend, where there are massive spaces hired out every week, and thought about putting on a swap meet for limited edition prints and originals etc.... Individuals and even Galleries sell their stock and it gives punters a chance to see the prints in the flesh. So many times a print has arrived in the post and I've been either elated or dissapointed on the quality. Not the Expo Centre though, doesn't need to be that big. Maybe tie it in with the Awards Show at the end of the year?

TOO MANY TUBES - COMMUNAL WAREHOUSE GALLERY UTOPIA, by pezlow on Oct 24, 2007 9:11:34 GMT 1, Would probably be too late to organise anything for the awards show but maybe something in the new year??

TOO MANY TUBES - COMMUNAL WAREHOUSE GALLERY UTOPIA, by JD on Oct 24, 2007 10:46:48 GMT 1, sounds very interesting would possibly be interested as long as it was in London and all depending on cost. Its a tough one because obviously we would only hang our art if there's security but then would the cost of this fab idea prevent it becoming a reality? Sounds a great place to hang out though, maybe we could recoup cost with alcohol etc But agreed Titifreak was perhaps the last straw with my Wife too
