NEW PRINT HOUSE, by Strange Al on Oct 11, 2007 0:39:37 GMT 1, I totally agree that the about turn on the Signed/Unsigned prints really isn't a great way to start a new print business. Doesn't instill much customer confidence; particularly, when people already have concerns about the way "street art" print-houses generally deal with so-called "limited edition" prints.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by wlsp4657 on Oct 11, 2007 1:27:58 GMT 1, I Think they handled the situation pretty well. It sucks about the BORF print being signed now, but its a great print in anycase. Also I am super happy I went ahead on bought the Unsigned Swoon as my commitment to her has been rewarded with the chance to buy a signed one.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by Andy'77 on Oct 11, 2007 8:00:56 GMT 1, I guess I'm a little disappointed that the Borf is now out of 200, but heck, I love the piece and it's not gonna look any worse on my wall if it says it's out of 200 now. 200 is still a pretty low run in scheme of things. Can't really believe they are still 170 hanging around. Also is the signed Swoon edition now out of 50, with only 30 unsigned?

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by Andy'77 on Oct 11, 2007 9:11:38 GMT 1, 170 left I think. I reckon they'd have been better off leaving the existing prints as they were and starting with just signed editions for the next lot of prints instead of changing half way through. I'm guessing they hadn't numbered them yet or is my Borf gonna have 40 crossed out and 200 put underneath.... Still, I'm just happy to have gotten the print.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by scoote on Oct 11, 2007 12:59:18 GMT 1, Christ just read this, in my haste to buy I bought a Borf unsigned by mistake, so I then went back and bought a Borf signed. I had to e-mail to get the unsigned refunded, and now it seems that it wouldn't have mattered, so am I right in thinking that now Borf signed will be the same cost as Borf unsigned and I am now due another refund, and two lots of fees from Paypal. If so balls and balls again.

Pass...
But if your refund is through paypal you'll get your fees back

sort of.. if the refund is with 24hrs you will get everything back. If it is after 24hrs you will loose 2.5% on currency conversions if you bought in the UK and paid in pounds allowing payapl to do the exchange. Same thing happened with faile.
What MM is right about is "pass"

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by bobbymeachamjr on Oct 11, 2007 14:35:12 GMT 1, 1 HUGE issue - people place a much higher price point for an edition of 40 vs 200. Having come out with the 40 > having people pay THAT price >upping to 200 which clearly devalues the print considerably = F*UCKED UP. Not talking about image here folks but clearly this is a shady business maneuver

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by pezlow on Oct 11, 2007 14:38:05 GMT 1, I don't think it is deliberate and therefore I am not sure it is that shady. Having said that Bobby I do agree with you. It shouldn't have been done. For those who bought the Swoon and Borf Signed they can feel justifiably annoyed and for the print house to just offer a refund (when many people will still want to keep the print) is, IMHO, not enough.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by dmandpenfold on Oct 11, 2007 14:42:43 GMT 1, I still like it and it's still good value when you compare to other signed prints out there of much greater editions... i can see why some are disappointed though.
Anyone had an email from the gallery by way of explanation or apology?

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by bobbymeachamjr on Oct 11, 2007 14:44:48 GMT 1, Pez I think in light of the POW mess and especially how in fine art there has always been meticulous and strict rule adherence to edition sizes, this type of "flexibility"/"ambiguity" from print houses/artists can not be accepted if this is to be a "serious" scene.

Agreed. They shouldn't have dont it. Though I suspect it was more cock up than conspiracy.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by Harveyn on Oct 11, 2007 14:58:36 GMT 1, Ultimately it does not bother me as I love this Borf print and I have been trying to buy one of the 1st runs for ages.
But I do agree that it does not seem right for them to change the edition size like this. It is always slightly nicer to have a print from a lower edition.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by bobbymeachamjr on Oct 11, 2007 15:07:29 GMT 1, This typifies one of the major flaws of this scene - either it is or it isn't an edition of X and when you start selling it you better not "well, I think we would sell more if we changed the edition". If you don't pay attention to this stuff it'll only facilitate many of the "art" we have being being in the 10 dollar bin one day.

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by wlsp4657 on Oct 11, 2007 16:22:34 GMT 1, Who else got a Signed Swoon besides me? There are only 30 signed ones, so it is a pretty tiny edition and a great print. Also I don't think they will change the edition size again as they know they already messed up once. So I am happy with my new swoon, as I have been with all my swoon pieces..

NEW PRINT HOUSE, by Harveyn on Oct 11, 2007 16:32:27 GMT 1, Thinking about this.
As they appear to have only sold 30 to date why do they not just rectify their error and change the edition number back to 40 (unless they have already started numbering and signing the prints). The counter aguement to this is they should have had the prints numbered and signed prior to the sale.
This is messy

This stuff happens when you start a new venture, you iron out the kinks and move on and hopefully next time it works out better... if you knew who was actually behind this venture you might be a little more forgiving and cut them some slack...

We do know who's behind it and they have been cut a lot of slack.. if that was POW they'd have been slagged to death. Personally I think they've made the right decision..the unsigned would have to be substantially cheaper than they were to sell.
