wireless help please , by Dead Elvis on Oct 14, 2007 20:08:50 GMT 1, Depends on the security level of your computer. First off, you have the option to set a password when you setup your network...as long as no one hacks the password (which is highly unlikely) and your file sharing is disabled on your computer, you will be fine.

wireless help please , by Richard on Oct 14, 2007 21:21:59 GMT 1, Make sure you enable 128 bit security. It will give you a really long password of letters and numbers (15 digits or so) that you will need to access your internet. No one would be able to hack that.

you sure about that?
In theory someone can always break into your network, but who'd go through the trouble to follow you correspondance on here?

wireless help please , by jfury on Oct 15, 2007 1:15:08 GMT 1, ....basically log onto your wireless router (where the settings for your router exist) the web adress will be something like 192.168.XX.XX - go to wirelss settings then go to security settings. You should then see various options such as WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) and WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy). Select one of these (encryption protocols) and it will request a password - type the password in then save you settings - makesure you remember the password and when you next log onto your wireless (start internet explorer or firefox etc) it will request the username and password - type the password in and it should then save it. You then should not have to type it in everytime.
It is extremely unlikely anyone will ever "hack" into your set up as there are far more interesting things out there for hackers to do than view your latest holiday photo's!
However what your neighbours could do is simply use your connection (bandwidth) which could result in slower internet speeds for you and free broadband for them!
As long as you follow the steps above and set the WPA or WEP setting you will have no issues.
hope that helps
