drawing a line under it, by verbalkint on Oct 16, 2007 1:12:17 GMT 1, I posted this theory on another thread but wanted some opinions so i gave it a thread of its own
I honestly cannot see banksy going into 2008 still releasing prints from 2006. I think the only reason we have had no releases all summer is cos he has not been here to sign the editions, some of the damaged signed morons took months to be replaces which backs up this theory. He always said he was taking the year off, but i think POW has already printed the last 2 as well as trollys and he probably signed them all together. I think they will release trollys, everyone will be either cheering or crying and then without notice they will release another, like applause and grannies (no more than 2 or 3 weeks apart) then the last one they could save for santas ghetto, maybe a surprise on the last day, sell the sale ends today print (if they have a ghetto this year) if not it will go through POW in december.
I just think that banksy will have had some amazing ideas in this last year, he will have created some superb pieces of art, or at the very least he will be exploding with ideas, i really think he will want to draw a line under the LA show prints, they are history, everyone knows what they look like. I think he will want to start 2008 with maybe a new print as a teaser for his next show. With someone as creative as banksy taking such a long break it is safe to say that his new material will be amazing. Plus i dont think it will be long before the stunts start again and the graff starts appearing all over the place again, get that PR machine rolling
Anyway, i just wanted to know if you think they will all be out before christmas or do you think i will be offering a diamond to the one who guesses the date of festivals release next year at this time too!!

drawing a line under it, by arcam on Oct 16, 2007 1:45:11 GMT 1, It would make sense to release the final LA prints before the years out, because as you say Banksy no doubt wants to move on. Whether that happens though is anyones guess. I don't think even POW know. Releasing 'Sale Ends' at the Santas Ghetto sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. It would make the recent Laz releases look like a walk in the park. But hey any publicity is good publicity, so you never know.

drawing a line under it, by stuey09 on Oct 16, 2007 7:54:37 GMT 1, It would make sense. Maybe the wider question will be whether PoW will be producing any subsequent prints?

drawing a line under it, by buffin on Oct 16, 2007 8:23:26 GMT 1, Makes a lot of sense but guess we also have to ask if Banksy will still release prints after the LA series? My guess is that he will but will he go down the Laz route of expensive prints or cheaper but bigger editions on POW (like GIWTB) or both?

drawing a line under it, by pezlow on Oct 16, 2007 9:02:42 GMT 1, I think Banksy will always release prints through POW but I suspect after the LA prints have finished they will only be unsigned. I suspect signed prints will be released exclusively through LAZ and for their full market value. This would fulfill the desire of Banksy to produce affordable artwork for his fans and the desires of Laz to squeeze as much money out of this market as possible.

drawing a line under it, by pezlow on Oct 16, 2007 9:04:50 GMT 1, ps. POW as a business model lends itself to a stock market flotation on AIM or something like that. Lazinc doesn't really.
It wouldn't be a surprise to me if Laz and the other owners of POW are thinking along those lines at some point in the future. In that case they need to keep the top artists in their stable.

drawing a line under it, by becksaboo on Oct 16, 2007 23:40:23 GMT 1, agree with all the points above but stuey i think he's been working on a film for the last year so maybe there won't be any new prints for a while after la.
