Credit Card, by Yessir on Oct 10, 2007 20:33:18 GMT 1, I recently blew just over £800 on my credit card for a few prints, my missus clears the balance off each month ( her only out-going, I pay for everything else, including the BOOB JOB).
Shes starting to wine like women do, about my "art obsession", and how much I spend, but I'm trying to convince her that my art spending is fairly moderate compared to some.
I would say a average low month for me is below or just over £100 and a high month could be around the £1500 mark.
I'm quite sure I'm more or less middle of the road in terms of art expenditure per month in this forum.
Whats your average low-high art expenditure per month?, I need some evidence to shut the missus up, once and for all .

Credit Card, by Deleted on Oct 10, 2007 21:31:35 GMT 1, I spent $10k one month to pay for my set of Micallef and also a few Failes.
Tell her that unlike her purchases, your stuff is potentially an appreciating asset. Not saying that you will sell what you buy, but if you're in a bind, there's a very good chance you won't lose money when it comes to selling.

That was an investment for you, too. Like going the extra mile for the museum glass.

Couldn't agree more. Now about the boob job...

Anyway I've run out of walls so thats that

Credit Card, by corblimeylimey on Oct 11, 2007 10:01:19 GMT 1, Some months I don't even earn £1500!
There's obviously plenty of months I don't buy anything, and most of my purchases are between £75 and £300, I guess it'll work out at about £100 a month on average, but I recently sold my Turin Scam and I got over £300 more for it than I paid for it, so this expediture isn't entirely made up from earnings, the art can part finance itself sometimes.

Credit Card, by sham69 on Oct 11, 2007 10:09:08 GMT 1, Just tell her to put it in context. Things could be a damn site worse, tell her that most of your workmates are blowing their loose change on wine, women, fags, drugs, Paul Smith, Pistols tickets, muscle implants, beer, gambling and hookers - all of which are non life-affirming, don't appreciate, are transient and you can't sit together on the sofa looking at.
The art will also make you look more intelligent to visitors and is a nice talking point for dinner parties.
By the way we're currently living on dripping bread and water while I save up for that elusive Faile box. At least we'll have somewhere to sit when I get it.

I'm not sure about that. I usually get asked. You spent HOW MUCH on that? You idiot.
Or alternatively - You queued for HOW LONG for that? You idiot.

I know where you're coming from, I recently got a loan to pay off the credit card and I'm determined to keep it under control now.

Like you CBL, i too have a (big) bit of a loan outstanding to pay off still - i see the monthly debit for it as reminder to not let it happen again!
