To my mind they're slightly different situations, the one in the link was being used as a doormat (having probably never been on a wall as I understand it) and was given freely by the shop that owned it. In this case the OP has taken a hammer and chisel to a piece in situ.

however
just because it is a doormat and is easy to remove from the street doesn't mean that it should happened .. same as the todays piece ..
.. and as far as I know the shop owner said the doormat appeared there one day .. so wouldn't say it did belong to them ..

Every time i walk around london it gives me a little buzz to see a new one as well as any nice street art for that matter. Im no street art saint but ripping off pieces of STREET art off the wall and then bragging about the fact that you have done this is the action of a proper c@£t. If an artist plasters a piece of art to a wall, it is because he/she doesnt want it to be taken. The fact that invader sells invader kits on his site makes the matter even more disgusting. Rot in hell

I work with Invader. A friend gave me the link to this thread.
So here is the real situation :
This guy sent me a few minutes ago the same pic in order to ask me how much the space invader would cost ! So I really doubt he put it back (it is impossible)...
Street art is for the street, if you really dig Invader's work and want something for your inside walls, spare a few bucks to buy a gallery piece or a print. If you can't afford it, go and buy you mosaic tiles.
But of course, regarding the email you sent me YOU did it to make money so shame on you !
At the same time, I guess you did not took it yet (because you would just have a few broken tiles if you did) and you were trying to know how much you could get from it on this forum.
For everybody : this space invader is/was in Vienna. The guy who claims he took it pretend to be a street artist in the email he sent me.
ps : it reminds me another member of this forum (and somebody who claim to be an artist !) who took/broke ten space invaders from the streets in Bangkok and wrote Invader an email to know if he would like to "buy"them back from him !!!! (no kidding). I won't give name except if I heard he starts again.
