If the edition numbers are low and letting people know puts your own purchase at risk, then play your cards close to your chest.

I've been helped out that way, and am keen to help others out that I know have an interest in a particular artist, rather than broadcast the info. Obviously if it comes down to very popular artists this can be tricky though.
