No-one needs an excuse to come to Brighton but we're going to give you one anyway... come and join us, Titifreak, Daniel Melim, Silvana Mello, Kboco, and Andrei Muller on Friday 5th October between 6pm and 9pm for the opening round of Cor Da Rua (Street Colour), our 2 month 10 artist celebration of the best in Brazilian urban art, considered by many to be the most significant root of the global urban art movement - see www.ocontemporary.com/exhibitions.htm .

In association with Sao Paulo's choque cultural, ocontemporary will be transformed into a corner of Sao Paulo with the artists creating murals on our walls and presenting their work for sale in their own unique way, promising a visual extravaganza to be talked about for years to come. Not only that but on Friday 9th November we'll be doing it all again with Speto, Carlos Dias, MZK, Ramon Martins and Zezao all coming over to swap places with their friends for round two of the Cor Da Rua experience, more details soon...

All work will be for sale and each artist is also producing a signed original silkscreen print edition of 95 (one artist is producing 2...) exclusive to ocontemporary and choque cultural. Of these there will be 15 specially priced collectors sets of all 11 prints with the same edition number. Prints will be published during the second week of each show and we'll be taking pre-orders for them on the opening nights (so they'll be plus p&p if you want us to send them to you), a number will also be available at www.choquecultural.co.uk at the end of the show.

All work over £100 qualifies for the OWN ART ( www.ocontemporary.com/own_art.htm ) scheme so can be paid for interest-free over 10 months. We can process applications from the first day of the show, Saturday October 6th.

Brighton's less than 50 minutes from Victoria, we're close to the station, and trains run back to London late into the night so it's a perfect Friday night out. From Brasil to Brighton - Tristan Manco, author 'Graffiti Brasil'; 'Street Logos'; 'Stencil Graffiti' (Thames and Hudson)

My first contact with Choque Cultural gallery, Sao Paulo, was in 2004, just a few months after its opening. The gallery quickly became a hub of activity where artists met, hung out and soon group exhibitions brought many artists together like a family. It became a place of exchange, support and experimentation. Through its gallery shows, new audiences were introduced to art and artists that were developing on the city’s streets. Not only street art and graffiti but art that was beyond mainstream. Young styles and cultures such as Tattoo art all found a new platform there. Beyond its gallery spaces, Choque Cultural also became a publisher of books and original screen prints, introducing print methods to artists who otherwise had no experience of the medium.

Choque Cultural’s reputation soon grew beyond Sao Paulo and artists from other Brazilian and South American cities began to visit and exhibit there. At the beginning of this year, Choque Cultural presented its first show outside Brazil in association with Jonathan Levine gallery in New York. The up-coming exhibitions at ocontemporary will build on the success of that show to present the work of 10 Brazilian artists who work closely with Choque Cultural. For many of these artists it will be their first visit to the UK and an excellent opportunity for them to reach a new audience. Cor da Rua is an intentionally eclectic group show that aims to show the richness and variety of expressions that have evolved on streets of Brazil. With all 10 artists making the trip to create unique installations of work and art for sale, Cor da Rua will be a one-off unmissable experience.
