Where to get A0 portfolio?, by saltandiron on Sept 27, 2007 11:06:42 GMT 1, I can't remember anyone on here finding these. If I were you I'd just start ringing up art supplies shops and seeing if they can order one in specially for you or suggest where you could get one..
Let us know how you get on, think there might be a few people intested.
Here are the two obvious shops I can think of. www.atlantisart.co.uk/ www.londongraphics.co.uk/

Where to get A0 portfolio?, by Imoy-San on Sept 27, 2007 11:15:02 GMT 1, I have quite a few prints in tubes, as I couldn't find a decently priced A0 portfolio or even sleeves.
Wasn't someone looking into this for the forum?

strange - says these are A0 but gives size as 885 x 620 mm - which sounds more like something made to fit A1 sheets at 841 x 594 A0 size is 1189 x 841 mm

Where to get A0 portfolio?, by misnomer on Sept 27, 2007 12:47:46 GMT 1, not much help.... but I just bought an old plan chest and it's a much nicer solution, finally the as yet unframed big boys can come out of their tubes.
not the best solution for everyone of course, its a large bit of furniture to accommodate
I'm pretty sure Atlantis mentioned above carry some form of A0 or try Cowling & Wilcox www.cowlingandwilcox.com/art/ or their portfolio shop www.portfoliosplus.com/ can't see any on the site, but pretty sure I've seen 'em in the shop

Where to get A0 portfolio?, by misnomer on Sept 27, 2007 12:52:39 GMT 1, So do people have mount board in their sleves or foam core ? be careful which foamcore you buy, usually it's not 'archival'. The foam is generally inert but often the paper coating or outer surface is not acid free

Where to get A0 portfolio?, by robo on Sept 27, 2007 12:58:58 GMT 1, A0 storage is very hard to come by. I've been looking into this for a while and did find some good things - happy to share my research with the forum.
You can get A0 loose sleeves from Secol (www.secol.co.uk) in packs of 10 for about £130 inc P&P and VAT. They are acid-free and transparent. Each one will prob hold 2 prints.
You then need something to put the sleeves in. I found A0 folders from www.conservation-by-design.co.uk, but only in packs of 10 for around £130 + VAT - didn't buy any cos i only need 1 or 2. There do seem to be a few A0 portfolios around though.

Where to get A0 portfolio?, by andrewd on Sept 27, 2007 13:00:05 GMT 1, I was in Atlantis on saturday looking at portfolios, the A0 is enormous, you'd really want to store it under a double bed or in a huge cupboard, you certainly wouldn't want to walking around with it. They have AO acid free inserts and also A0 foam board. For my larger prints I am going to mount them on foam with acid free corners and cover with an AO insert, then store between hardboard. Oh and if you were wondering Applause doesn't even fit into AO! There's quite a lot about portfolios in the Picture care and framing section of this forum.

Where to get A0 portfolio?, by slinkink on Sept 29, 2007 11:21:49 GMT 1, artlantis do have A0 portfolios but they get pretty hard to manage at that size if ull of prints!!!
IMHO a much nicer solution is proper print browsers like you see in the shops. i have some from selwyns... follow this
www.selwyns.com/sleeves.php
the lovely meredith can sort you out. they generally only do packs of 10+ i think and they are about £10 - £20 each depending on size but when you consider what some of the prints we talk about on here are worth, if you absolutely cannot get them framed i think they are worth treating well!!

My browser is from selwyns, a little tip if you are not in a rush, ask when they are doing a trade show and then ask if you can buy the ex display stuff. It's all like new and boxed yet I think I got 25% off or something. Makes a big difference when you're buying aot of sleeves and a browser. Go for the sleeves with the metal reinforced corners, bit more money but worth it.
