I've had two bad experiences with Samsungs.

I've had two good experiences with Panasonic and Magnavox (which I think may actually be the same company now).

LCD is the way to go if you plan on moving it around ever. The only thing is that I hear eventually you have to replace a bulb.

I stay away from plasma as I'm always rearranging my spot around to fit prints and such.

the basic gist is, panasonic,sony,lg,samsung. find out what you like. find the price on www.empiredirect.co.uk then go to your local john lewis store and ask them to "price match" empiredirect. john lewis will price match as they are "never knowingly undersold". you get the tv at bottom price plus you get john lewis customer service and free extended warranty (3 or 5 year i cant remember) warranty is important as these type of sets cant be repaired easily (or cheaply) if they go arse up.

oh and panasonic are generally perceived to be the best in geek world (they are one of the few company's that manufacture there own panels and don't manufacture for anyone else)
and plasma displays run hot like radiators so don't put prints above them!

plenty of magazines you can pick up that list and review lcd's, worth grabbing a couple from wh smiths so you know what you're talking about when you go into richer sounds .. the john lewis 5 year guarantee is well worth doing if u can get the right deal there

Bought a 32" Panasonic a few months back, 100hz for high definition, on HD feed, cracking TV, matt black so it doesn't pick up as much reflection on the surround plastic, basically, get the best TV oyu can for the money, try pricerunner, kelkoo and other companies. Got mine from 123 Electrical from Pricerunner search.

Godd service and quick delivery, insurance was cheaper too.

£900 in shops, £800 on line Currys, paid £649 .

Guess it pays to do your homework is the best advice

I was seriously looking at a Panasonic but my income has dropped off a bit recently, it'll just need to wait a while.

One day I'll get the 'top of the range' Panasonic Viera TX-32LXD700 as the sound quality is important to me, but the lower model is pretty much the same except the speaker system isn't so good.

The longer you leave it though the better and cheaper they get, so I'm not in any hurry, my old TV works just fine.

cbl why not get the lower model and a yamaha 1100 projector speaker to keep clutter free surround

CBL, I have the TX-32LMD70 might be upgrading soon, the sound from it is not unimpressive, granted i have not compared it the next one up

Got an LCD and a plasma, the plasma is miles better, I'd get a plasma instead if you can... not sure how small they go though

LCD is easier to fix if you ever have problems and is easier to move around if you ever need to. You can also hang them above fireplaces or near other heat sources without having to worry or shield it nearly as much.
