What would be the best bet for a 32" around £400???
Any i should avoid? Seen one called a wharfdale & Accoustic solutions, but it looks like theycould be a cheap way out.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by absyrd on Sept 30, 2007 0:34:25 GMT 1, I've had two bad experiences with Samsungs.
I've had two good experiences with Panasonic and Magnavox (which I think may actually be the same company now).
LCD is the way to go if you plan on moving it around ever. The only thing is that I hear eventually you have to replace a bulb.
I stay away from plasma as I'm always rearranging my spot around to fit prints and such.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by Deleted on Sept 30, 2007 0:34:38 GMT 1, I went for a 26" Samsung Lcd for about £429 (I think), I use it as a T.V and Pc screen and haven't looked back, If you could stretch your budget to a little more than £400 then this would probably be a good option -
www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/544896/art/samsung/le32r88bd-lcd-television.html
Plus you could probably find it cheaper if you shopped about.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by tickz on Sept 30, 2007 0:39:05 GMT 1, this site is a uk based, non biased view, friendly bunch and they know there stuff, click on lcd forums. www.avforums.com
the basic gist is, panasonic, sony,lg,samsung. find out what you like. find the price on www.empiredirect.co.uk then go to your local john lewis store and ask them to "price match" empiredirect. john lewis will price match as they are "never knowingly undersold". you get the tv at bottom price plus you get john lewis customer service and free extended warranty (3 or 5 year i cant remember) warranty is important as these type of sets cant be repaired easily (or cheaply) if they go arse up.
hope this helps

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by tickz on Sept 30, 2007 0:46:40 GMT 1, oh and panasonic are generally perceived to be the best in geek world (they are one of the few company's that manufacture there own panels and don't manufacture for anyone else) and plasma displays run hot like radiators so don't put prints above them!

Im going to have to get a cabinet to hold it so no heat should touch any prints hopefully.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by doughy on Sept 30, 2007 10:38:58 GMT 1, Bought a 32" Panasonic a few months back, 100hz for high definition, on HD feed, cracking TV, matt black so it doesn't pick up as much reflection on the surround plastic, basically, get the best TV oyu can for the money, try pricerunner, kelkoo and other companies. Got mine from 123 Electrical from Pricerunner search.
Godd service and quick delivery, insurance was cheaper too.
£900 in shops, £800 on line Currys, paid £649 .
Guess it pays to do your homework is the best advice

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by corblimeylimey on Sept 30, 2007 19:22:31 GMT 1, I was seriously looking at a Panasonic but my income has dropped off a bit recently, it'll just need to wait a while.
check out
www.pricerunner.co.uk/cl/2/TVs?sort=5&a_13=LCD&man_id=17&a_11=between%3B31.0%3B40.0
One day I'll get the 'top of the range' Panasonic Viera TX-32LXD700 as the sound quality is important to me, but the lower model is pretty much the same except the speaker system isn't so good.
The longer you leave it though the better and cheaper they get, so I'm not in any hurry, my old TV works just fine.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by corblimeylimey on Sept 30, 2007 20:26:30 GMT 1, I'm sure I won't be buying one until the midle of next year, by then I'm sure the TX-32LXD700 will be replaced by a full 1080 res version which is probably worth waiting for.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by absyrd on Sept 30, 2007 21:50:10 GMT 1, LCD is easier to fix if you ever have problems and is easier to move around if you ever need to. You can also hang them above fireplaces or near other heat sources without having to worry or shield it nearly as much.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by corblimeylimey on Sept 30, 2007 21:54:18 GMT 1, I don't think they make 32" Plasma the smallest is 37" I think.
LCD TVs have improved massively recently with the contrast ratio going up from 500:1 to around 8500:1 also the response rate & refresh rate etc has also improved.
I'm really glad I didn't buy one a year ago.

Anyone know about LCD TV's?, by ABC on Sept 30, 2007 22:01:52 GMT 1, At work we have a 50" Plasma Panasonic and a 46" (I think) Sony LCD on Nights we watch DVD etc on the Plasma, its the nuts and better by far. Problem being it was 1.6k which is a lot of cash and I believe they are not as reliable as the LCD. To be honest I don't think they have caught up with the SONY WEGA Windscreens yet for sound quality, hence why Ive still got mine and wont be changing it for a while.
