Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by cashman on Sept 10, 2007 17:07:05 GMT 1, Don't we just know it Carl... very much a case of we got pulled into looking like every 'Castle Gallery' that seems to appear in every town around the country - case of go to one go to them all - thats what we're pulling away from but do still have stock for the time being - our best seller at present maintains to be Rolf Harris and thank god he had the common sense to move away from his introducing publisher before they squashed him too!!
............ you scared me for a minute, I wonderd how you new my name!!!! Then I realised it would have been on the email I sent

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by monetfineart on Sept 13, 2007 14:50:30 GMT 1, Just had some great coverage in the Shepton Mallet journal should anyone be able to get hold of. (nb: mistake of calling a DFace & a Shepard Fairey at Journals end not mine!). Plus should be some big coverage in Bristol Evening Post & Western Daily Press next week. Look forward to meeting you all that have already replied. Thanks

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by johnas on Sept 21, 2007 18:10:07 GMT 1, Take your camera and report back please.
your wish is my command CBL...
All I'll say right now is that I apologise in advance if these photos spoil it for anyone that is planning on going tomorrow but I will add, PLEASE DO GO and show some support to Monet. They'll be the first to admit that they're quite new to the scene but I was quite taken by their enthusiasm and they're exciement in creating a dedicated gallery for the 'urban art' scene down here and they seem to be in talks with some of the boards favourite artists.
Lin & Lisa are really nice too plus they've got a fridge full of Brother's Perry Cider to keep even Crackawacka & FPR satisfied
I must admit, the collection is quite small at the moment and there's no great surprises as far as what is in it, but they've gathered quite a broad collection. All the pieces are nicely framed with UV glass etc and if you like anything that I post, they told me they'd be happy to discuss delivering it to you (except the Applause!).
The prices for the majority of works seemed quite fair to me too, although the Banksy's were very pricey - i think the u/s TM was £2.5K! I didn't note any of the prices of the other pieces but I'm sure if you post here, Lisa or Lin willl let you know what they cost. Bear in mind they do come well framed and with provenence etc
Photos to follow......

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by stuey09 on Sept 21, 2007 18:14:43 GMT 1, That sounds great Johnas, looking forward to the pictures. Best take one of that fridge as I can't see how it could keep those to alchys happy. Are you going to any of the Pistols gigs?

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by johnas on Sept 21, 2007 18:24:18 GMT 1, note: I think the lights in there have made things very 'yellow'. The appluase frame was brushed aluminium not gold as it appears!
Banksy's first off...... (and Hutch Rollergirl Canvas)
they had lots of the original Banksy postcards framed up (more than in this pic) for about £40 I think
OBEY
Think this one was £425?
Nick Walker
Stef 'Rush Hour' & Faile 'MacBeth'
Wrongworks 'American Idol'
D Face 'Death & Glory' (Think this was £550)
Static & Banksy - They had a couple of other Static Pieces too - the one in the pic is 1/5. I forget which other ones they had!

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by johnas on Sept 21, 2007 18:32:17 GMT 1, These are by an artist called Tom Lewis... never heard of him but I really liked them. Giclee prints and really nicely framed. Tom will actually be at the gallery tomorrow for anyone that is popping down. The last pic is hand embellished too
Art Junkie - I didn't recognise the name but I'm sure I've seen these before somewhere.
There are lots of other bits and bobs there but I suggest you pop down there, see them for yourself and have a Perry Cider.

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by pastiepie on Sept 23, 2007 14:13:15 GMT 1, I don't want to sound cynical but does Art Junkie's Winnie the Pooh seem to bear 'lol' any resemblence to Banksy's Mild Mild West? especially the left hand and molotov flame.
and also more obviously the fact they are both bears throwing Molotov cocktails

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by mred on Sept 23, 2007 14:50:01 GMT 1, Maybe to introduce some urban art to the folks of Shepton Mallet or S**t And Smell It as its know around these parts!!
NuArt although only a few miles away from Pilton its a bit of a place time forgot. Too much Cider and Babycham
Or if I also was being cynical maybe just to make a few quid framing and reselling pieces that have been around for a while.

ahhh, I think even the good people of Shepton Mallet deserve better. I can this forums "gallery" section is gonna get very interesting over the next couple of years Rolf Harris & Beryl Cook 1st floor, Banksy & Adam Neate 2nd.. maybe not as daft as it seems.

Urban Art hits the South West 21st/22nd Sept, by becksaboo on Sept 23, 2007 16:12:53 GMT 1, If it's to help new artists then I think it's a good idea but if it's just to sell banksy's and the like, what's the difference between them and flippers? If they're old prints then when's the cut-off point? I expect a lot of the people who bag some prints are so called 'galleries' and not just some bloke who sells on ebay.
