I have stuff from santas ghetto that i paid for in cash and no-one asked for my name so therefore there is no record of the sale.
I guess this is the same for a good few people.

i did get a few from forum members and trust evreything is kosher, but i dont want to create any more anxiaty but some pieces could be sold or traded without knowing anything is wrong,
i did get my banksies for the image and not the resale so am not too woried @ all ,,, honest
gulp.
i have several pieces with no provenance, doesnt worry me but maybe it would if i was selling them are buying a signed for ยฃ1000s.

Unlike flags, the rest of the Banksy prints didnt all sell out in a morning. If you bought a print fro Santa's Ghetto, it will say purchased from Santa's ghetto on their record, you give the year to the buyer to check with too and bobs your uncle, there is your prov for your print

Its just a piece of paper saying that the print is real is much easier to fake than a print, so whats it worth

There was also a case of a bloke who got a job with access to the archive at the Tate which allowed him to cobble together provenance for various artists ( copying handwriting personal details etc and then passed this over to a forger who created the painting to be sold! ) Both doing time as far as I know.

They only way in my eyes to satisfy myself of provenance is a compilation of proof..
Credit card receipts
Emails
Dora confirmation...
Print in the original tube - date matching the release time
Print with tissue paper
Name of original owner and full history
POW Blind stamp
Signature if signed...obviously 
along with the purchase place...

(it was 2004 lol)
Since then, I checked (out of interest) with POW and have an email from Michelle confirming my print was registered to Tom Tom originally.
I also have my credit Card Statement showing a purchase from Tom Tom.
So - would that be considered good provenance?
I've got the following provenance with my signed Banksy- always wondered how good it was......When I purchased it from Tom Tom, all I got (and asked for as I'd never bought any art before) was a thermal credit card receipt - it's now barely legible. (it was 2004 lol)

It's Signed and Numbered - but no stamp - the print I have was pre-POW stamp.
I'm not worried about it's authenticity personally.
I bought it from a Gallery known to deal in Banksy Prints, and the price I paid for it back then (ยฃ225 ;D Framed!!!) wouldn't have been worth the effort.
But always wondered in case I ever decide to sell it on, obviously it would matter a lot to a potential buyer.
Just like to add...I'm not planning on selling it whatsoever - Love it  - but maybe one day....I know the GF looks at it on the wall and see's hundreds of pairs of shoes in it's place lol
