Lithograph or print, by rob123rob on Sept 18, 2007 18:49:25 GMT 1, Hmm interesting, why has everyone turned into a complete cynical t**t on this forum? Arttart is genuinely asking for help and advice. When I first stumbled on this board I found 60 or so prints in my plan chest that i bought/swapped 5-6years ago. I had no idea what they were worth. I knew the banksy prints might be worth something, but had no idea how much. And when I posted that I also had an orignal Adam Neate piece painted on wood (how the f*ck was I supposed to know who that little upside down charity symbol signature belonged to) I was met with sarcasm and neg'd for it. So give the girl a break.. she may be genuine. Arttart post some photos and the more 'helpful' members will be glad to help you out.
Cynical? I just got a PM from a "new"member who is calling themself Death to Robert..saying I am Watching You...I know, just some fool acting stupid, but this forum is getting strange and negative fast.

I don't see it myself.
As for your PM do any work colleagues or friends know you visit this site? would any of them be winding you up?

Lithograph or print, by dumpsuk on Sept 18, 2007 21:12:08 GMT 1, To go back to the lithograph question I think some members are confusing lithographs with off-set lithography. Lazinc say these are lithographs so i would expect them to be so, and not 'printed' using cmyk inks as in off-set litho (magazines, posters etc.) I will take my linen tester with me tomorrow to get a good look at the prints before buying. If you see me i'll be the one with what looks like a jewellers magnifying glass squashed in my eye with my nose against a print.

Lithograph or print, by Pattycakes on Sept 18, 2007 22:43:46 GMT 1, All of the eyestorm Japanese Micallef lithos were, as far as I can tell, direct to matrix (zinc plate) and some transfer paper to zinc. I don't think they were offset, though I could be wrong on that one. Looking at the images, I have a feeling that the new Laz prints are offset however.

How'd it go?

Lithograph or print, by arttart on Sept 19, 2007 18:23:09 GMT 1, sorry work and life took over and i haven't had a chance to get my act together and have a look and what the pictures look like ... Thank you all for all your advice - you're really too kind and as soon as I have a chance i'll have a look - suppose she has done me a good deed then it seems. I may just hold on to them for a while as I have no need to sell them and it seems terrible to just sell what she left me.

Lithograph or print, by dumpsuk on Sept 19, 2007 23:07:23 GMT 1, CBL i was there from 7am but left empty handed. I still managed to ask (politely) to be let inside to inspect the prints. These are NOT off-set litho prints (read colour poster/magazine reproductions) these are high quality prints. I could see no dots at all from screen/film or plate, they looked like originals, including the 'water colouring'... i did not get out the linen tester out, as you can imagine, I was too likely to poke it in someone else's eye.

Lithograph or print, by scavos on Sept 20, 2007 12:43:45 GMT 1, This is a surprisingly interesting thread. I've got two Denning lithos (from David Simons gallery) which I was initially uncertain about. Having received a couple of Denning giclee prints from RP I was expecting paper of the same quality. The lithos are on much thinner paper. However, the images are striking and the prints have an earthy feel to them which I really like. They look like you could smudge the ink if you rubbed it. I don't have a magnifying glass but on close inspection I can't see the dots as described. Does anyone know if these were done using the process described by printguru?

Lithograph or print, by corblimeylimey on Sept 20, 2007 17:18:11 GMT 1, You're not likely to see the dots with the naked eye as they were probably printed at 175 or 200 screen (dots per inch)
Come on guys, someone with a Micallef litho must have a magnifing glass or linen tester. Would really be interested to know for sure after someone has looked using a glass.
