Untitled skull drawing diptych (1) Damien Hirst and Michael Joo These skull drawings by Michael Joo and Damien Hirst - two diptychs and two single drawings - epitomise the history and nature of artist collaborations. Made spontaneously and simultaneously they have a Jekyll and Hyde quality that combines an odd cartoon-like wit and farce with a bleak melancholy. Although the skull has been used by a range of artists during the long history of art, it is perhaps the most likely motif for Hirst and Joo to work with - the skull is one of a number of motifs Hirst employs, and skeletons and animal parts, sometimes at different stages of autopsy, is a recurring feature of Joo’s practice. But this unique set of drawings only available from Other Criteria also reflects the long-term friendship and empathy shared between these two internationally established artists.
Each drawing is signed by both artists on the front and comes in a graphite coloured wooden box frame with UV Perspex made to the artists’ specification.

Extradition with Computer Ashley Bickerton ‘Extradition with Computer’ is part of a series of photographs by American artist Ashley Bickerton. His work has increasingly addressed a ‘global conscience’ since the 1980s, and this photograph, set in Bali where Bickerton currently lives, relates primarily to the influence capitalism has had and continues to have on indigenous social and anthropological structures. Bickerton rose to international prominence in the 1980s through his association with the Neo-Geo group, which also included Jeff Koons.
This is edition 7/10. The handmade mother of pearl frame is inherent to the work.

Recording Johannes Albers “I will never forget a talk show I saw, in which grieving parents tried to contact their dead child using a tape recorder. A technician supposedly made hidden frequencies audible and eventually a ghostly “I'm alright” could be heard. And I will also never forget the tape recording of an exorcism held in Germany in the mid 1970s, which was aired on television. The recordings sounded like a real version of the classic horror movie: “Who are you?” “I am the devil.” Tape recordings obviously touch and prove reality, but they surely leave a weird space for wonder and imagination too. So what is on that tape? It's me. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.” (Johannes Albers, 2007).
This print on canvas of a cassette tape, refracted at the centre to give an ‘optical’ quality to the image, is a haunting and bold piece of work which is both a definitive statement and also an object of ambiguity.
Each edition is signed on the reverse.

Black Dog Rachel Howard Executed in Indian ink this drawing is part of a series of work that explores what the artist describes as “the beauty of tragedy”.
The subject matter draws on the rich tradition in art history where the dog has been romantically portrayed as the human companion, vigilant protector and loyal guardian of the dead. Yet in Rachel Howard’s drawings dogs are also shown as animals prone to abuse and neglect by humans. They can be depraved animals, associated with death and evil. Howard has titled one drawing ‘Black Dog’, referencing Winston Churchill’s name for his depression. These ‘dog’ drawings reflect the tension that this epithet implies.
There are three different 'dog' drawings by Rachel Howard available. Each drawing comes in a white lacquered wooden box frame with UV Perspex made to the artist’s specification.

Crucifixion (detail) Mat Collishaw ‘Crucifixion’, was first shown at Modern Medicine in 1990, as a large-scale slide installation. Here Collishaw has re-worked the piece as a compelling triptych silkscreen print on paper. The submissive images have themselves been subverted to take on the appearance of a crucifixion scene. The addition of a diamond-dusted surface adds a celestial quality to the image that contrasts with the earthly flesh tones of the figures. Collishaw's photographs often use illusionary and seductive devices to deal with ideas of beauty, sex, violence, myth and nature.
"...Collishaw's work and its ideas accelerate through the red traffic lights of photographic decency and order, risking everything..." Neal Brown.
Triptych silkscreen print with diamond dust printed with 12 colours including a glaze and silver leafing on 410 gsm Somerset Tub sized paper. Signed and numbered by the artist.

BARGAIN HIRST WORK FROM OTHER CRITERIA !! , by shogun on Sept 21, 2007 15:26:00 GMT 1, That being a real skull - I bet the 'previous owner' hadn't a clue what would happen once their soul ran out of time.... Speaking of which - where do these artists get all these bodyparts from. I can's see a queue of people signing away their remains to be desecrated and sold for vast amounts of money...
