Printing process question, by a4mnt on Aug 31, 2007 10:56:29 GMT 1, Don't know where to put this thread, so here goes anyway.
Went to see the Neate show last week and am curious how 3d pieces such as '2am blog' and 'cold war' become prints?
2am blog has a real mouse in it and cold war has half a trenchcoat. Are these photographed in a 1.1 scale and then transferred to print? I have no idea.
Fantastic art though.

Printing process question, by corblimeylimey on Aug 31, 2007 11:09:56 GMT 1, Yep, the giclee is basically an inkjet of a photograph.
The camera would need to be very high quality professional model, the very best are medium format cameras with a scanning digital back, but you might just get away with a 10 - 12 megapixel SLR.
Check out this pro model, with 416 megapixel scanning back....

Printing process question, by a4mnt on Aug 31, 2007 11:25:23 GMT 1, ink is placed directly onto the mouse's fur and this is used as a stamp (similar to a blindstamping process) on all the prints. hth
Damn, if a PC's mouse has fur on it nowadays, I'm glad I only use a laptop.
PLurker, you Brixton folk at the bottom of the hill are just weird

Mind you, at nearly £12k, I'll stick with this lil fella for the time being. ;D

I've been in the graphic repro business for 25 years, the whole time I've been primarily involved in the digitisation of conventional photographs and art work, so I should know something about it

Mrs CBL is slowly recovering from her illness and trying to get a new business off the ground, hence the lack of time to visit here.
Regarding her business, she needs a 4X4 to tow a catering trailer and she was thinking of getting a Land Rover Discovery (a 10 year old Diesel 300Tdi) anyone here have any experience of these vehicles? recommendations etc?

Gutted. Thats like telling a child that he could have had an ice cream but his dad has just eaten it.
CBL - best wishes for the missus from me too. I don't think you can go wrong with Discovery's. Not personally had one, my folks did though. I've had series 2 and 3 Land Rover's and like most Land Rover's, they are made to last.

Printing process question, by corblimeyswife on Aug 31, 2007 15:48:30 GMT 1, Just to say a big thank you to you all for your kindness, that really means a lot. I have actually been off work since January, for four months I lost my voice altogether and have eaten very little all that time too. For a long time the doctors had no idea what I had until I was finally diagnosed with Conversion Symptom Aphonia, which they say was brought on by a post trauma of losing my mum a few years ago and my real father that I sadly never met, and I only found out about him when I was 27. It has been a very tough time, especially as I thought I had been coping with it all better than I had been for a long time, but they say I had built it up in my mind without realizing and the result was my body shut down altogether. My voice only returned four weeks ago after visiting a lady who does Journey Therapy (This is where they believe a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms are directly linked to unresolved issues), and I am just starting to be able to drink smoothies too which is great. Anyway there is light at last and I would urge none of you to keep emotions in as I am proof that it does you no good! Thank you again and to Mr CBL who has been amazing all through this!

Printing process question, by a4mnt on Sept 1, 2007 12:34:44 GMT 1, Well, only met CBL briefly but listen to him a lot on here and it looks like you snagged yourself a good man - I would imagine he'd be a rock for you through something like you've been through.
I'm sure everyone on here wishes you well and thanks for being so candid. I'm just drinking a homemade smoothie as I read your post, so good for you being able to drink them again as otherwise you'd be missing out.
Take care of each other, as Jerry Springer would say.
