It's that time of the year again Yes it's her Birthday
Want to surprise her with a trip to Edinburgh but I need some help from members on the following,
1 - 4-5 star hotel
2 - A good sea-food restaurant
3 - Some good art galleries (may as well if I'm there)
Thanks in advance for all your help

Can Anyone Reccommend......, by corblimeyswife on Sept 5, 2007 21:21:09 GMT 1, I think that is gorgeous that you are planning this, and I am sure it will be much appreciated! I can't offer much advice as it has been years since I went there, but I have The Witchery Hotel bookmarked for a long time as I kept seeing it recommended in all my monthly mags that I get. It looks and sounds gorgeous!!! This is a bit what it says on their site and sounds perfect for you!
Hidden in a collection of historic buildings at the gates of Edinburgh castle, James Thomson’s seven theatrical and decadent suites are perfect for those looking to stay in the most indulgent and magical of settings – the perfect antidote to bland hotels. Lavishly decorated and antique-filled, these suites scream romance with a capital R!
Oh I would love to go there!
Here is their web address www.thewitchery.com/
Just take a look, I have not looked at the prices so I hope they are alright.
Have a gorgeous time whatever you do!!

Can Anyone Reccommend......, by organics1 on Sept 6, 2007 9:10:08 GMT 1, Hi All,
Thanks for all the suggestions and I now have some thinking to do
Mrs CBL I had the Witchery on my list too as it's in a book I was given called "Mr & Mrs Smith", you might know it. At a starting price of £250 a night I'm not sure ther'd be much left over to go out but by the look of the rooms we probably wouldn't want to.
Thanks again to you all and +1 all round ;D

Can Anyone Reccommend......, by nickc on Sept 6, 2007 10:08:56 GMT 1, Can confirm that The Witchery is the dogs you know whats. Trust me, you won't be wanting to do anything else when you get there except stay in the room and pop down to the dining room for some grub.

Can Anyone Reccommend......, by corblimeyswife on Sept 6, 2007 10:58:56 GMT 1, I have just come across another hotel recommended by RED magazine this month, its called Tiger Lilly, www.tigerlilyedinburgh.co.uk/
This is what it says on the magazine: Its glamorous nocturnal offerings-rouged up to the hilt and encrusted with crystals,Lulu is the bar beneath Tiger Lilly.DJ's mix up a blend of Latin, house and electro until 3am, while the bartenders mix up interesting blends of the strong stuff. Rates £175.00-£295.00 (again pricey like The Witchery)
As residents it says you also are on the guest list for the basement nightclub which has swarovski crystal-lined walls!!!
Wow sounds quite something. I can see what you mean about the prices though, but I should get booking soon if you are going to go to one of these as they seem very popular.
Whatever you do the main thing to remember is, that the even a little b and b would still be amazing, the fact that you are planning this and going away is enough!!!
I will have to look at the book, thanks I will check that out
oh the book is the one they are talking about in RED, so this one will be in there too! How slow am I !!!

Browns just of Princess Street is great for some brunch – their Eggs Benedict is top notch
