Courier with Insurance - Help, by Danger Mouse on Sept 6, 2007 12:50:26 GMT 1, I need to post a print within the UK and need to find a decent courier/postal service that will insure it for its full value of 3000 GBP. The print is in it usual tube and then the tube is in a box measuring 90cm x 30cm x 30cm and weighing just under 2Kg surrounded by foam to help protect it as much as possible.
Royal Mail have just quoted me almost 70 GBP to send it recorded delivery but only insured up to a value of 2500 GBP, and DHL have just quoted me 15 GBP for recorded delivery but not insured.
Does anyone know how to post the item safetly, recorded delivery, insured and for a reasonable price?
Thanks!

Courier with Insurance - Help, by manchestermike on Sept 6, 2007 13:07:46 GMT 1, I use business post
I've got a business account with them so get a very good rate, but I imagine the normal rate is pretty good.
The above would cost me in the region of £20 fully insured to £3000 with business post

Courier with Insurance - Help, by Danger Mouse on Sept 6, 2007 13:41:12 GMT 1, Hey Mike
Thanks for the tip. I just contacted business post who took all the information from me such as pickup post code, deliver to post code and value of item and they have just called me back with the quote. They said due the items value they would need to send it same day delivery and the cost would be ... wait for it .... 307.99 GBP !! Can you believe it!! It would be cheaper for me to take the day off work, buy a return plane ticket from Holland (where I am working), buy a train to ticket from the Midlands to London and hand deliver it myself than pay that! Crazy!! ha ha
Do you or anyone else have any other ideas?
Cheers..

Courier with Insurance - Help, by Danger Mouse on Sept 6, 2007 14:01:55 GMT 1, They said because I don't have an account with them. I told them that someone I know (you) posts similar items of similar value and pays around 20 GBP. They told me that that must be because you hold an account with them.

They lost a sofa? Perhaps it's fallen down the back of a ... (yo've guessed) ... sofa.
