Framing / Advice Needed, by Dellboyy on Jul 31, 2007 11:39:01 GMT 1, Well it's not really framing advice, but... i've just recieved my l.e.t. piece on wood (looks great btw!), and i've absolutely no idea how to hang it since i've only ever had prints before!
Is there a clever way to fix something like this to my wall? I obviously don't like the idea of damaging it, and the only other thing i can think of would be to frame it... which would be a shame as i like the idea of showing it unframed!
Any ideas??

Framing / Advice Needed, by Harveyn on Jul 31, 2007 12:08:14 GMT 1, Is there images on all sides?
I did this with my Faile box.
If not you could drill holes in the wall and put 4 small posts (dowels) up to set your piece in.

Framing / Advice Needed, by Dellboyy on Jul 31, 2007 12:22:33 GMT 1, It's a really thin piece of wood, so it wouldn't stand like your faile box, it's more suitable for hanging (i love your faile box btw!).
I was thinking of something like the dowels you suggested, but i suppose it would have to be safe so it wouldn't just fall off the wall!?

Framing / Advice Needed, by corblimeylimey on Jul 31, 2007 12:44:36 GMT 1, I've held large thin boards to the wall using mirror fixings, as you can see from the pic the bottom two can be fixed then the top two slide down to 'clamp' it in place, they are chrome in finish.
As long as the art work isn't more than around 10mm thick these could be ideal.

Framing / Advice Needed, by corblimeylimey on Jul 31, 2007 13:07:10 GMT 1, I got mine from B&Q but I got the pic from
www.cglass.co.uk/product.php?productid=16752
actually looking at mine again I'd say the max thickness would be about 7mm due to the plastic washer, I guess if you took that out it'll go to 10mm

and if you do need it to accept a thicker board it is pretty easy to make something similar to this (well it is for me ;D) shout if required and I could probably knock something up in my workshop for you.

Framing / Advice Needed, by Dellboyy on Jul 31, 2007 13:32:50 GMT 1, Thanks for the offer marshman! I'll certainly keep it in mind, however from memory i think it should easily be thin enough for the B&Q option!
Cheers!

Framing / Advice Needed, by speedyli on Aug 22, 2007 16:08:47 GMT 1, Hi
I am thinking of float mounting a few prints, I understand that its a little tricky to tackle it yourself however I have always framed my own stuff sucsessfully but i have only ever used mountboard. I have seen some fantastic stuff on this forum & the difference a bit of creative framing makes seems to be well worth the effort. Any advice?
Gary
