Banksy in Edinburgh?, by poofly on Aug 20, 2007 2:03:43 GMT 1, I can recommend popping down to Goodstead on Bread Street just out of the grass market.
Its a clothes shop but has some nice art in there too, namely a banksy some Antony Micallef and some dface stuff. They got some real nice threads as well.
Lots of toys too.
And there's a microbo & bo130 exhibition on at Analogue, and their huge range of art/design books can keep you occupied for hours (at the top of the grass market)
Check out the wall of fame next to Potterrow, just a big graff wall, you can't miss it. Elph was doing something down there a week or so ago, but it may have gone by now.
In fact Elph had a wee exhibition at the 'red door gallery' just up the street from Analogue, so worth checking
Check the Embassy gallery on east cross causeway (i think) I haven't been down recently but its a nice space and run by past students of the art college.
Also check out the Edinburgh Print House (or studio, I can't quite remeber.) Last festival time there was a Shrigley exhibition down there, I think they still have loads of his stuff in there.
Other than that Edinburgh is thin on the ground with regards to street art. I did some wee things down the meadows a few years back, and they are still there, really need to get some more of those done. (just like my avatar but in yellow)
Oh you should check the 'out of the blue' studios on Dalmeny Street which is half way down leith walk on the right hand side. Its always free and loads of artists work in the building, again not sure of the exhibit on at the moment, but its a really nice space, its got free internet and I can recommend the cafe.
Steaf Pleatz did a 'mural' in the Assembly bar opposite the udderbelly, and I think there's loads of scrawl collective work on the walls.
Otherwise just get some buckfast from the local shop and get properly wasted. Bucky is funny stuff to get wasted on.
