WARNING!!! PLEASE READ , by organics1 on Aug 20, 2007 14:53:01 GMT 1, Hi all,
Just thought I would share this email I've just received
It looks like Google are already upto Paypal tricks with holding onto your money for no valid reason. They let you set up an account and once you start receving money they pull this out the bag
WHY DON'T THEY ASK FOR THIS INFORMATION AT THE BEGINNING!
They're all the same
Thank you for creating a Google Checkout merchant account.
As you may know from your existing banking relationships, European law requires that payments providers take steps to verify the identities of their customers. Google has designed procedures to comply with those requirements while protecting and respecting the confidentiality of your personal information.
The information we need to collect from you is described in the attached form. At your earliest convenience, please download and complete this form. You can remit this form to Google either via secure fax, at 08706221637, or via direct reply to this email. To comply with law and industry standards, please know that until we receive and verify the information requested, we will be unable to disperse funds to your bank account.
Another of these regulations requires that we obtain an original bank statement, original voided cheque, or original voided paying-in slip from any sellers who process €15,000 in transactions in 2 months or less.
If you believe that you will process €15,000 in transactions within 2 months, we would like to give you the opportunity to send us this documentation now.
You can do this by photocopying and scanning one of the following:
- Original bank statement (must be less than 6 months old) - Original voided cheque - Original voided paying-in slip
By submitting the information outlined in the Seller Information Request form you confirm and agree that the individuals listed as key principals in the form have provided consent for their personal information to be processed by Google (and other third party credit agencies) for the purpose of confirming and verifying the identity of the company or organisation you represent.
We appreciate your cooperation with this data request, and we welcome any questions you may have.
European law requires that payments providers take steps to verify the identity of their customers, and that they do not continue to do business with their customers until those steps have been completed. Our procedures comply with these requirements, and also protect and respect the confidentiality of your personal information, which is held under the terms of our Privacy Policy.
For more information regarding our Privacy Policy, please see checkout.google.com/files/privacy.html.
Once you have completed the verification process, you may be eligible to appear in our store directory. You can find more information on our store directory here: checkout.google.com/buyer/merchants.html?hl=en_GB
To request inclusion in the store directory, please email checkout-promotions-uk@google.com

WARNING!!! PLEASE READ , by pezlow on Aug 20, 2007 15:12:42 GMT 1, I guess because if you are only sending money it is not a problem. But if you receive money that is when the warning bells start ringing. Trust me all banks and building societies (not to mention solicitors and accountants) are absolutely sh*t scared of the anti money laundering regs because if you ignore it you are committing a criminal offence.
Wait and see how long it takes them to sort it out.
