Doom & Gloom, by organics1 on Aug 10, 2007 16:54:41 GMT 1, Hi All,
I know this has been talked about before but I've read two reports today that don't give me much confidence over the coming months
www.fool.co.uk/news/property-home/2007/08/09/house-prices-start-to-fall-in-london.aspx?source=ioowftxt0010011
** World shares fall on credit fears ** World share prices continue to slide in a second day of big losses, amid fears of a global credit crunch.

Do we really think those Hedge Fund Managers and Art Investors will be buying up art after there summer hols or will they have bigger things to worry about. I just hope we've all bought our art because we like it and not to make a quick buck. Especially those who have speculated by making big ticket purchases

Doom & Gloom, by EHC on Aug 10, 2007 18:55:58 GMT 1, I honestly think the only artwork that will be affected in a major way would be those that are in the upper echelon that probably doesn't apply to most of us. Mostly the ones that are in the six figures and up will be hit hardest. I think the great thing about the art scene today is that there is one that is independent of the "fine" art world. "Street art" or whatever you want to call it, with the exception of a handful of artists, the prices are dictated more by supply and demand than pure speculation and as an investment. On the most part, prints and even some originals are all still pretty affordable.
