Duty and VAT question, by turps on Jul 30, 2007 8:52:58 GMT 1, I'm sure this has probably been asked before but if buying a print from someone in the U.S. via ebay is there customs duty and VAT to pay on its arrival in the U.K.. If so would you know what rates apply.

Duty and VAT question, by discoduster on Jul 30, 2007 9:05:09 GMT 1, I'll leave going into great detail to someone else but I personally bought a print from the states insured to the value of $1200 and had to pay £41 VAT and Parcel Force charges of £12 i think.
Later found out that Art isn't included in their insurance so wouldn't have got owt if it did go AWOL.
Next time I'll get it marked as a "gift" from the seller and take the risk.
