MAJOR EBAY SCAM - PLEASE READ, by Harveyn on Jul 16, 2007 21:52:38 GMT 1, I have sold electronic equipment and phones on Ebay and this is very common. Just delete any Paypal email you get saying they are holding funds for you which will be released on proof of dispatch. Always check you Paypal account to make sure the money being paid has been received and cleared. The payment can be in an uncleared status on Paypal because the buyer has paid by echeque. This is quite legitimate but you must wait 5 to 7 days until the funds have cleared.

MAJOR EBAY SCAM - PLEASE READ, by adrscib on Jul 16, 2007 22:00:30 GMT 1, it happens to us in our business... we sell electronic goods... they even call us by phone and want to do geniune business.... we give them a very high price for say a notebook... which they accept (so we know its a scam), and then when we ask for T/T they insist on a credit card payment usually not on their name.... their email is also yahoo or hotmail... unfortunately for nigeria we have never and will never do any business with them. The trick is that usually the credit card is valid and goes through but once you have already shipped the goods the real owner of the stolen credit card advises the bank who reverses the transaction... and you are left with no money and no stock (since you will have already shipped)...
they like to do that type of tricks on popular items but i dont think you should worry as i doubt if banksy has arrived in nigeria!

MAJOR EBAY SCAM - PLEASE READ, by discoduster on Jul 17, 2007 6:31:39 GMT 1, I had similar problems selling my PS3.
I had to relist about 3 times as auction kept being won by zero feedback bidders in Nigeria even tho the item was listed as being posted to the UK only.
Had to relist finally using Immediate Payment Required. That stopped 'em!
