Server crashes and browsers, by BongoBongo on Jul 5, 2007 12:00:26 GMT 1, After failing to get the Obey print on Tuesday I was wondering if anyone has some tips for getting prints when servers die. I twice got through to paypal but I couldn't get back to the Obey site. Does it make any difference what browser you are using? Graphics on / off?
Thanks for any top tips.

Server crashes and browsers, by BongoBongo on Jul 5, 2007 12:29:01 GMT 1, I had firefox and IE open and only got through with IE. Does anyone know if you can save the address that paypal sends you to so that you can try it again when obey crashes?

Server crashes and browsers, by megaelch on Jul 5, 2007 12:41:29 GMT 1, i think the reason we got no confirmation was the print sold out before paypal yould confirm with obey .. just a matter of a few seconds too slow . when i went back to the obey site the print was marked as no longer available in the shopping basket .. just bad luck ..

Server crashes and browsers, by gbh on Jul 6, 2007 1:07:15 GMT 1, the problem is on the server side. It won't make a diff what browser you have or your bandwidth. The site is overwhelmed at release time. You can get to the site fine now right?

Server crashes and browsers, by discoduster on Jul 6, 2007 8:30:15 GMT 1, Does anyone if when a site puts a new page up everyone gets it at the same time.
An SOS update was posted on the forum but when I went to the SOS site it wasn't there for a couple hours after..
What's that about!??
Getting nervous about it regarding impending Beejoir release

Server crashes and browsers, by gbh on Jul 6, 2007 12:30:37 GMT 1, quite possible that your isp is caching pages
force page updates with f5 or ctrl+r
Once the page is changed on the server, there is no real reason why everyone doesn't get it at the same unless there is caching somewhere along the line

Server crashes and browsers, by corblimeylimey on Jul 6, 2007 21:20:25 GMT 1, Now Im on Mac I have got Safari and Firefox and have bin trying them out to see what one works the best I have found Firefox to be very very slow Safari is much faster, but it does seem to get slower as the day goes on
You'll find that Safari is best for most things but the odd site won't work, and that's where Firefox steps in. I found during the moron battle I had slightly better performance from Firefox, once the print was in the basket the trick was to click the next button and wait, it took some time but the next stage did load, it was better to wait I found than hitting the button again.
Having said that I couldn't checkout quick enough so my basket emptied, the problem as gbh says is more with the server.

Server crashes and browsers, by discoduster on Jul 6, 2007 21:45:38 GMT 1, Even though SOS are with Google Checkout now, there wont be any messing around with baskets/carts.
Just await that golden email from Kate

Server crashes and browsers, by kit on Jul 6, 2007 23:44:39 GMT 1, I was lucky enough to get one. My strategy is like corblimeylimey's -- once you click any link, do not click anything again until the next page loads. When I got an error message (which happened twice during this process), I would hit "retry" once and eventually the next page would load.
I actually went through the PayPal process twice, because upon my first return to Obey after paying, I didn't get an order confirmation and the print was still in my cart. I submitted a second payment, at which time I did receive an order confirmation.
I received a shipping notice yesterday and my initial payment was refunded today, so I think I can finally rest easy...
