Float Mount or Standard Mount - Sleepless Nights, by Harveyn on Jul 6, 2007 23:42:55 GMT 1, Hi - Fairly new to the forum but loving it already ;D Endless source of info plus Bongo really lights up my dark moments.
Anyway go easy on me.
Having been collecting seriously now for 12 months or so (posted pics last week (DFace Kant Complain canvas with monster black frame)) I have found myself sleepless at night concerned about the framing options I have selected. Never to worried about the originals as originals are originals and unless you do something really daft everything should be okay.
My sleepless nights begin with prints. I have had prints reframed several times as my concerns float from acid free materials to ultraviolet damage.
My questions to the forum is float mount or standard. I have had all my prints changed from standard mount to float along with UVP Acrylic as opposed to glass. My concern with standard mount is the fading behind the mount caused by UV light but of course once you float mount you start using more adhesive and even though its acid free I somehow feel the print is compromised.
God I am sad, I really should find something more important to worry about.
Loving the other threads!!!!

hi harveyn... i've seen your collection and i don't think you've anything to worry about. they all look like they've been framed to a very high standard!
i'd worry more if they were in clip frames, infront of a large south facing window and hung above a radiator!

Float Mount or Standard Mount - Sleepless Nights, by ctc2 on Jul 7, 2007 0:13:56 GMT 1, Float mat looks great but something bothers me about all of the adhesives needed.

Float Mount or Standard Mount - Sleepless Nights, by Harveyn on Jul 7, 2007 13:01:49 GMT 1, Thanks Guys
99% aren't above radiators but 2 are (simply not enough wall space). I have a running battle with my wife, she keeps switching the two particular offenders on and I keep switching them off!!
Anybody out there know how to hot wire radiators to live mains!!!!
Thanks Guys

Its easy to worry but as long as it's kept outta direct sunlight, things should be ok.
