The only way p.o.w can stop flippers , by westley on Jul 4, 2007 17:23:48 GMT 1, just wanted to know what people thought of this what if pow sold the prints for there true market value but made another set of prints that would be addressed to you your name would be written on to the print say saying to (your name here) all the best from (name of pow member) this is the way most film stars sigh autographs. you have a personal print and it will reduce what you can sell it for i don't think most fans would mind as they aim to keep there prints . i am sure pow have a few quid spare to get a new staff member in to do it and if anyone from pow reads this i am looking for a new job
well what do you all think ?

Banksy has released loads of some of his best pictures for free on his website. They make puka pictures when printed out on a good printer, forum memember 'Theates' framed one up a while back and it was top notch.
EDIT: Not many artists give away their work like that for free actually. It quite a cool thing he did there.

I think anything that could risk the future values of pieces by POW artists would be something they would avoid and if they didnt, I should think the artists would.

The only way p.o.w can stop flippers , by reados on Jul 4, 2007 17:53:50 GMT 1, i have not paid my council tax this month yet, i cant afford to buy art for my walls, so the investment and sell on value is important to me, so i kind of kid my self that its ok to buy prints art work, it took me ages to buy my first banksy print off POW (£70) i never actually looked at it as an investment and its still on my wall, when i realised the value these pictures was going up I started to buy more, I would have never have filled my walls like i have now if it was not for the investment factor of my prints, now i have too much art. but at the end of the day if i get in some financial difficulties i could claw a bit of money back from most of it, and make a few bob on the banksy's.
i think the bagger thing is slowing prints are sitting around a little longer, apart from the biggies, its tough you just have to try and get a lucky print.

The only way p.o.w can stop flippers , by Harveyn on Jul 4, 2007 18:13:28 GMT 1, Hi Good thread. I have spent thousands on prints and originals and have not flipped one. I buy for the love of the art. But (and there is always a but) I think flipping has a use. It allows some people to buy art make a profit and move up the art buying market. It also creates an environment where people try to find the next bright young or old thing, which creates a demand in the art world which is no bad thing. I know it can be frustrating when you really want a piece and you don't get and then it starts selling on Ebay for a ridiculus price. Besides art has always been an investment market the internet just makes things a little more exciting. Must start flipping!!

The only way p.o.w can stop flippers , by gordy on Jul 4, 2007 18:24:31 GMT 1, Lets face it....the biggest flippers of all are....wait for it.......
THE GALLERIES THEMSELVES.....!!!!
We can talk all we want about individuals but what about all the galleries. The art world in this country is controled by a nice cosy community in London...go to the previews and it is always the same faces that you will see there!!!! guaranteed....
They must hate Banksy interupting there middle class party... ;D ;D

The only way p.o.w can stop flippers , by RBK on Jul 4, 2007 18:54:22 GMT 1, Let's keep it real....
- POW is a business first and foremost - They love the hype/hysteria that occurs with each Banksy release bc it brings them more exposure to POW - Remember, the artist and POW determine the selling prices - The secondary market fuels desire/marketing for multiple artists

good point ! Fair dues they have to make their money but getting the inside line and then adding 50% or more, does my nut. but then again they are sniffing out and filtering the wheat from the chafe. Bit of a newbie on the forum but can I ask ... when did the beef about flippin' start was it after the massive Banksy price hikes ? To stop the flippin' all they need to do is flood the market. Do quality reprints of all the originals and runs of 2000 on all new prints ;D Peace
