guy argueing about printing, by BlackRatPress on Jun 15, 2007 18:47:09 GMT 1, Does anyone remember who was arguing with me that it wasn't possible to screenprint an image of an oil painting? I need to email him something. He was a printer/publisher. I cannot find the thread now. Thanks

guy argueing about printing, by BK83 on Jun 15, 2007 23:06:15 GMT 1, you can turn anything into a screenprint. colors may not be absolutely exact but I think you could get it pretty fucking close enough that it would be hard to tell......

im actually a big fan of chuck close, if you look at his collections of works his most realist images are actually ink-jets
www.artnet.de/artwork/424990650/424046260/chuck-close-self-portrait.html
and his more surreal abstract images are the screenprint/silkscreen images
www.artnet.de/artwork/424995857/423788132/chuck-close-self-portrait.html
sureley people can see the difference between those two image which i think justifies my point! PM me if you no comprenday!!!!

guy argueing about printing, by neutral on Jun 16, 2007 9:23:35 GMT 1, Did not see that one coming into a light arguement! The example I had was not a 19 color screenprint but a 149 color screenprint here : www.paceprints.com/printshop/FeaturedPrints/Close-1853.asp
Despite the fact you will probably argue about the different in style Dave, from what I gather from the threads first post, it was a case of screenprinting an oil painting which Chuck Close and others, have done several times over the years regardless of style and whatever else comes in the way. Comprende !

Comprende copatriot! iv lost the thread but think the main point was about creating a photographic image and the fact a screenprint must be made up of dots! anyway iv jabbered on to death so gona draw a line under it! roll on the next banksy!
