Dear forum members, your assistance please...., by ABC on Jun 15, 2007 20:54:19 GMT 1, Etching is the process of using strong acid to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio in the metal (the original process - in modern manufacturing other chemicals may be used on other types of material). Aquatint uses acid-resistant resin to achieve tonal effects This is how the begger image has been created, the french flag is screen printed.

Dear forum members, your assistance please...., by neutral on Jun 15, 2007 22:16:04 GMT 1, Etching would have to be done first as the paper needs to be wet for not being ripped by the plate and the press. The screenprint would follow once the etching has dried up. So it is a one piece with 2 different techniques, etching with aquatint and screenprint.
